The agricultural cooperative Mila stands for 2,700 mountain farmers from South Tyrol who pasture their lands with great care and dedication. The farmers' milk is collected 365 days a year and is transformed into fresh quality products within 24 hours. The cooperative has two production plants: Yogurt, drink yogurt, fresh and UHT milk, fresh cream and butter are produced in Bolzano, while fresh and aged cheese as well as Mascarpone and green grana are made in Brunico. Among the 16 different types of aged cheese there is the Stilfser g. U./Stelvio DOP as first and only South Tyrolean cheese with protected designation of origin (PDO). Every day 29 milk tanks collect the fresh milk directly at the Mila farms. The collection area spreads from the Resia lake in the Northwest to the southern part of the region and from the Mendel mountain pass in the south to the far east parts of South Tyrol. Mila is the representative cooperative for the milk producing area of South Tyrol as more than 50 % of the area's mountain farmers trust in this cooperative since 1963. Mila stands for fresh cow milk products and the label guarantees 100 % milk from South Tyrol. In addition to this and thanks to the great work of 16 goat milk farmers, Mila also has a small production of fresh goat milk, goat cheese and goat yogurt in different flavours.
