Primary Job Function
The Associate Director Oncology will be responsible for coordinating, lead, and overseeing the strategic development, tactical execution, and financial planning of all Sales and Marketing initiatives related to Brand Strategy. Manage customer engagement and broader commercial activities, including leading, developing, and coaching the Sales Force to maximize brand performance, revenue growth, and margin.
Ensure a patient-centric approach across all initiatives, while operating in full compliance with AbbVieโs Code of Business Conduct, internal policies, and all applicable laws and regulations.
Core Job Responsibilities
- Drive Brand Performance in Solid Tumors: Lead and execute all Sales and Marketing activities for brands in the solid tumors market, including market shaping, market access preparation, and successful product launches. Drive strong commercial strategy and flawless execution to deliver sales and margin targets within approved budgets, with proven experience managing high-cost, specialty brands in an affiliate environment.
- Lead Sales Force & Brand Team Excellence: Lead, develop, and coach integrated teams combining sales and marketing responsibilities, optimizing resource utilization through target setting, incentive schemes, KPI management, and continuous capability building across oncology-specific medical, technical, and in-field expertise.
- Own Brand Financials: Hold full accountability for the Brand P&L, including sales delivery and end-to-end financial planning processes (Financial Plan, Forecasts/Updates, and Long-Range Plan), ensuring disciplined investment decisions aligned with strategic priorities.
- Shape Future Growth, Launch Readiness & Regional Contribution: Define the strategic direction for existing brands, pipeline assets, and new business opportunities within the solid tumors portfolio. Actively contribute to regional brand teams and cross-country strategic projects across Central America, Caribbean, and Andean markets, in close collaboration with Scope Colombia, ensuring launch excellence, rapid uptake, and sustainable long-term growth.
- Enable Cross-Functional, Market Access & In-Field Execution: Build strong cross-functional collaboration across Medical, Market Access, Regulatory, Finance, and Commercial functions, ensuring robust market intelligence flow and clear brand strategy communication. Leverage Market Access expertise in Colombia and working knowledge of access dynamics in Central America, Caribbean, and Andean markets to support pricing, reimbursement, and access strategies for complex oncology portfolios.
- Lead, Develop, and Influence in Matrix Organizations: Develop and coach high-performing talent, build succession plans, and lead Brand Teams around a shared vision. Demonstrate strong influencing and leadership capabilities within highly matrixed, international organizations, aligning local, regional, and global stakeholders while acting as a role model of AbbVie leadership behaviors.
Position Accountability / Scope
The Associate Director Oncology reports to the General Manager, with strong alignment to regional and global oncology brand teams. The role holds accountability for expanding the current Oncology portfolio and leading upcoming solid tumors launches in Cluster North, while actively participating in regional strategic initiatives across Colombia, Central America, Caribbean, and Andean markets.
Responsible for managing budgets, business cases, and lifecycle execution of new opportunities, from assessment through implementation and performance monitoring. Acts as a key liaison with internal and external stakeholders, representing the company in negotiations and strategic alliances. Fluent business-level English is required to effectively operate in regional and international governance and decision-making forums
- Desire Masterยดs degree or equivalent
- Relevant experience with proven track record of success in a marketing and sales leadership position within biotech/pharmaceutical industry
- Ability to develop business vision, translate into strategies and actionable, realistic execution actions plus knowledge of territory and relationships with key stakeholders already established
- Minimun 10 years of combined strategy planning experience and/or business development
- Proven experience working with financial modeling, annual operating plans, and busines pipeline assessments.
- Experience in Oncology preffered solid tumors
- Experience developing business cases to capture effort and/or investment request
