Engineering Manager (BE) - Revenue Platform (ANZ Remote)

We’re hiring multiple Engineering Managers (backend) across the Revenue Platform group — a team at the heart of Canva’s monetisation engine. Your work will help unlock new markets, reduce payment friction, improve the end-to-end user journey, and protect our revenue streams. These are critical capabilities that directly fuel Canva’s global growth and impact.

What you’d be doing in this role

As Canva scales, change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that’s all part of the fun. This will give you a flavour of the kind of things you’ll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.

At the moment, this role is focused on:

• Leading one of Canva’s core revenue infrastructure teams as part of our broader monetisation platform
• Guiding your team through complex technical challenges, including scalable backend architecture, billing systems, and platform service decomposition
• Owning the team’s technical roadmap, project delivery, and development practices
• Coaching and growing backend engineers while fostering a culture of pragmatic technical excellence
• Partnering cross-functionally with Product, Finance, and other specialties to deliver high-impact monetisation initiatives
• Contributing to the codebase and architectural decision-making while scaling your leadership

You're probably a match if:

• You bring backend expertise at the intersection of product, growth, and platform — ideally with experience in financial systems
• You’ve led backend engineering teams, balancing people leadership with technical delivery
• You have experience working with distributed systems, microservices, and cloud infrastructure (especially AWS)
• You’re comfortable with object-oriented programming languages like Java
• You thrive in ambiguity and know how to turn complex problems into scalable systems
• You’re passionate about inclusive team culture and enabling cross-functional success
• You can explain technical concepts clearly across diverse stakeholder groups

The Revenue Platform group sits within Canva’s Growth supergroup. Our mission is to power Canva’s monetisation engine — making it seamless, scalable, and reliable. From global payments and subscription management to usage-based pricing and fraud prevention, we design and build the systems that support Canva’s most critical revenue workflows. This is foundational work with massive impact — and we’re just getting started.
