Where and how you can work
Our flagship campus is in Sydney. This role is preferred to be based out of our Sydney office, where the majority of this team is located.
About the Team
Recruiting is a core strategic driver of Canva’s success - we’ve hired some of the best people from all over the world and it takes a curious, tenacious and creative Recruiter to make sure we’re always discovering talent that will take Canva into the future.
You’ll be part of the Talent Acquisition group, where we’re passionate about creating exceptional candidate experiences and enabling leaders to hire Canvanauts who add to our inclusive culture and help us achieve our crazy big goals.
About the Role
This is a newly created, high impact leadership role operating at a truly global level, reporting to the Head of Talent Acquisition. In this role you’ll lead our regional TA leads, and Contingent Workforce teams, shaping the strategy, philosophy, and operating model for how Canva hires internationally. You will bring clarity to ambiguity, connect permanent and contingent workforce hiring into one cohesive approach, and influence workforce decisions at the most senior levels. This role blends strategic leadership, people leadership at scale, and deep TA craft, with impact across regions and Canva’s long term growth.
What you’ll do
Lead and evolve Canva’s international talent acquisition strategy, aligning regions around clear hiring pillars, principles, and priorities.
Act as a trusted thought partner to the Head of the International Supergroup and Chief of Staff, supporting alignment, escalation, and decision making across markets.
Coach and lead Regional TA Leads, Country Leads, and Contingent Workforce leaders through complex, high pressure, and ambiguous hiring decisions.
Bring together permanent and contingent workforce strategies to support both short term needs and long term capability building.
Serve as the bridge between HQ and regions, enabling global consistency while embedding meaningful local market nuance.
Own international headcount planning and prioritisation, leading Founder review processes with clear and aligned narratives.
Partner closely with FP&A, International Expansion, and People leaders to shape location strategy, workforce models, and hiring approaches in new and evolving markets.
Set clear international TA metrics and expectations, holding regions accountable to hiring quality, craft, timelines, and bar.
Embed international hiring principles into global TA frameworks, ensuring they are understood, documented, and applied consistently.
What we're looking for
Deep recruiting craft, across one or multiple regions with demonstrated ability to bring complex, high volume hiring together at scale.
Experience operating in tech and product SaaS environments.
Proven experience coaching leaders, and managing teams of teams.
Strong program management capability, with experience running large, cross functional TA initiatives from strategy through to delivery.
Strategic thinker who can translate vision into clear operating models, practical decisions, and scalable ways of working.
Exposure to opening and hiring in new regions or markets, with a clear framework for market entry and a strong understanding of cultural nuance across countries.
A strong performance and coaching mindset, with a track record of building high performing teams.
Broader talent acquisition experience beyond permanent hiring, such as internal mobility, early talent, or DEI programs.
