This role will have the unique opportunity to drive Capi’s entry into new countries. From validating a country’s feasibility to processing the first customer transactions, you’ll open new markets end-to-end; you’ll thrive in unfamiliar environments, learn fast, and bring structure to ambiguity.
You’ll spend extended periods living in-market, meeting potential customers, navigating regulatory dynamics, plugging into local banking and fintech structures, fixing real bottlenecks, and expanding Capi’s footprint across emerging markets.
This is frontier work — operational, analytical, and deeply hands-on, spanning emerging markets across Africa, and later MENA & Asia with tangible economic impact. As well as operational rigour and a knack for getting things done in difficult environments, candidates will need to be able to deliver early commercial success in our new markets.

Spend time with businesses on the ground to understand demand, urgency, and willingness to pay
Build a clear picture of how the market works, including regulations, current payment flows, and key pain points
Survey the banking, FX, and partner landscape and kick off partnership discussions
Test assumptions quickly to understand what would enable a launch and what would block it
Make a clear recommendation on whether to launch, grounded in customer insight, feasibility, risk, and commercial upside
Turn ideas into real-world launches:
Build, negotiate, and secure on-the-ground partnerships with banks, FX providers, customers, and acquisition partners
Set up and test end-to-end flows, including onboarding, payments, liquidity movement, and edge-case troubleshooting
Get the first transactions live, setting initial pricing and adjusting based on real usage
Put early local support in place, lining up contractors, first hires, and potential GM candidates
Stabilize and document the launch, creating a clear handover playbook once the market is ready to scale
Willing and excited to live in-market for up to several months during launches — must have the ability to travel and reside abroad for long stretches
3+ years in top-tier consulting, operations, BD, expansion, or startup launch roles
Experience working in emerging markets
Experience managing contractors, consultants, or small teams in fast-moving, ambiguous environments
Ability to manage multiple parallel work-streams with clarity and momentum
Strong communicator who can build trust with internal leaders and external partners
Analytical and structured - comfortable building quantitative models and making decisions with imperfect data
Demonstrated commercial ability, such as partnership negotiations, enterprise sales, fundraising, etc.
Familiarity with import-export sector or cross-border payments
Fluency in Arabic, Portuguese, French, Amharic or other strategic language
This is a full-time position with competitive salary, share options, and benefits
Substantial global travel required — travel and accommodation support for extended in-market stays
Ideal start date: Q1 2026 (we are aware that a notice period may need to be fulfilled and can adjust accordingly)
