Role Overview
We are seeking a Pre-Sales / Sales Engineer to support the growth of our embedded financing platform by partnering closely with Sales, Product, and Engineering to help merchants and platform partners successfully evaluate and integrate our lending solution. This role sits on the lender side and serves as the technical and product expert during the pre-sales and early integration phases.
You will translate merchant and platform needs into technical solutions, demonstrate integration approaches, and remove technical friction to accelerate deal cycles and successful launches.
Key Responsibilities
Pre-Sales Technical Support
Partner with Sales to support merchant and platform prospects throughout the sales cycle.
Lead technical discovery to understand merchant checkout flows, POS systems, and integration requirements.
Explain embedded financing capabilities, constraints, and trade-offs clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Respond to technical due diligence, RFPs, and security questionnaires.
Solution Design & Integration Guidance
Design recommended integration approaches (hosted checkout, APIs, SDKs, e-commerce plugins, platform integrations).
Walk merchants and platform partners through API specifications, webhooks, sandbox environments, and test flows.
Provide sample workflows, diagrams, and implementation guidance tailored to each prospect’s setup.
Validate technical feasibility and integration effort during deal qualification.
Product Demonstrations & Enablement
Deliver technical demos showcasing customer experience, approval flows, and funding mechanics.
Explain underwriting logic, offer presentation, credit availability, and post-purchase flows at a high level.
Support proof-of-concepts and pilot integrations as needed.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Act as the technical liaison between Sales, Product, Engineering, Risk, and Operations.
Surface merchant feedback and integration blockers to influence product roadmap and documentation.
Ensure alignment on implementation scope, timelines, and launch readiness before contracts are finalized.
Deal Acceleration & Handoff
Reduce time-to-close by addressing technical objections and uncertainties early.
Support clean handoff from pre-sales to implementation/onboarding teams with clear integration plans.
Maintain documentation of agreed-upon technical requirements and assumptions.
Qualifications
Required
5+ years of experience in pre-sales, sales engineering, solutions engineering, or technical implementation in fintech, payments, or lending.
Strong understanding of embedded finance, POS financing, or checkout-based payment flows.
Hands-on experience with APIs, webhooks, authentication, and event-driven systems.
Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to business and technical audiences.
Strong problem-solving, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred
Experience with consumer lending, BNPL, or installment loan products.
Familiarity with merchant platforms and POS systems (e.g., Shopify, Magento, custom checkouts, in-store POS).
Experience supporting platform partners or marketplaces.
SQL or basic scripting skills for troubleshooting and analysis.
What Success Looks Like
Shortened sales cycles driven by clear technical alignment early in the process.
High confidence from merchants and platforms in integration approach and launch readiness.
Fewer post-contract integration surprises or scope gaps.
Strong partnership with Sales and Product to drive scalable embedded finance growth.
