We are in a transformative journey to harness the power of artificial intelligence and machine learning for the social good sector. We're looking for a foundational AI Engineer to help build and scale our AI platform. This is an exciting opportunity to work with rich, diverse datasets and build on intelligent systems, directly impacting the tools used by thousands of non-profits.
As a key member of our Data Team, you will work closely with our Data Scientist, Data Engineer, and development teams to bridge the gap between model development and product integration. You will be the go-to expert for implementing cutting-edge AI, especially Agentic Workflows and Large Language Models (LLMs), to create tangible value for our users. If you are a hands-on builder, curious, and passionate about applying AI to solve meaningful, real-world problems, this role is for you.
Build & Integrate AI Systems: Collaborate with engineering teams on the design and implementation of solutions using LLM's, including the development of advanced Agentic Orchestration and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems to levitate our proprietary data.
Master Prompt Engineering: Develop, refine, and optimize prompts to ensure the highest quality and accuracy from AI models, serving as the subject matter expert for the product and development teams.
Integrate and Deploy: Collaborate with product and engineering teams to integrate AI/ML models and services into our core products, ensuring they are scalable, reliable, and efficient.
Drive AI Adoption: Act as an AI generalist, empowering our internal teams to use AI tooling effectively, from building agents to integrating with various AI services.
Collaborate and Innovate: Work in a highly collaborative environment with the product and data team to explore new AI technologies and identify opportunities to apply them to our business challenges.
Leverage Cloud Services: Utilize cloud platforms, particularly AWS AI services, to build, deploy, and manage AI-powered features.
Professional Experience: Approximately 3+ years of hands-on experience in a software engineering, machine learning, or related role, with a demonstrated focus on building and deploying AI systems.
LLM and Prompt Engineering Expertise: Proven experience and demonstrated deep understanding of prompt engineering, LLM integration, and fine-tuning techniques.
Software Development Skills: Strong software development fundamentals and experience contributing to the development of scalable, production-ready software.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in at least one programming language (Node.js and/or Python preferred) and experience working with AI agents, common AI/ML frameworks and libraries.
Data Proficiency: Experience working with large, complex datasets and a solid understanding of data structures and algorithms.
Cloud Experience: Familiarity with cloud-based AI services; specific experience with AWS Bedrock services and Agent Core is a strong plus.
Collaborative Spirit: A self-starter mentality combined with a passion for collaboration and the ability to communicate complex technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
Hands-on experience with vector databases.
Practical experience building, training, or fine-tuning LL/ML models.
Familiarity with MLOps principles and tools.
Experience with data platforms like Snowflake.
Working knowledge of Node.js.
Prior experience working with or a passion for the non-profit sector.
