Instacart’s Catalog powers a complex four‑sided marketplace connecting customers, retailers, brands, and shoppers. Our Catalog Content Management engineering group builds the systems that interpret retailer intent, process massive data feeds, create and evolve product identity, enrich item data, and detect and resolve issues that appear on the storefront—while providing intuitive tools other teams rely on to manage catalog data end to end.
We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer to lead cross‑functional initiatives that advance the state of our Catalog, with a particular focus on evolving product identity toward a dynamic, AI‑driven approach. You will design and maintain scalable, mission‑critical systems, set a clear technical strategy, and partner closely with Product, Data Science, Machine Learning, and engineering teams across Shopping, Fulfillment, Ads, Caper, and Instacart for Business.
You will directly support an 8‑person team and collaborate with 60+ engineers across the broader Catalog organization. If you thrive in fast‑paced environments, love solving ambiguous, high‑impact problems at scale, and enjoy mentoring others while rolling up your sleeves, this is an opportunity to shape core platform capabilities that touch every surface of Instacart.

Instacart provides highly market-competitive compensation and benefits in each location where our employees work. This role is remote and the base pay range for a successful candidate is dependent on their permanent work location. Please review our Flex First remote work policy here. Currently, we are only hiring in the following provinces: Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia, and Nova Scotia.
Offers may vary based on many factors, such as candidate experience and skills required for the role. Additionally, this role is eligible for a new hire equity grant as well as annual refresh grants. Please read more about our benefits offerings here.
