About The Role:
The Payroll Specialist ensures Nevoya drivers are paid accurately, on time, and in full compliance with multi state regulations. This role owns the end to end payroll process across multiple entities, maintains all payroll data and system updates, and partners closely with HR and Operations to support a seamless employee pay experience. The ideal candidate is detail oriented, highly organized, and comfortable running payroll in a fast paced, rapidly scaling environment.
What You’ll Do:
Process biweekly and weekly payrolls across Gusto and Rippling, ensuring accurate and timely pay for salaried staff, hourly employees, and drivers.
Manage all payroll inputs including bonuses, reimbursements, equipment deductions, garnishments, and variable driver pay items.
Maintain payroll records and ensure all new hires, terminations, promotions, and pay changes are properly reflected in the system.
Ensure compliance with multi state payroll, wage and hour, and employment tax requirements.
Audit timesheets, earnings, and deductions for accuracy and resolve discrepancies quickly.
Support year end filings and deliverables, including W2s, payroll reporting, and record retention.
Coordinate with HR, Operations, and external partners to maintain accurate employee data and ensure payroll readiness each cycle.
Document and improve payroll processes, system workflows, and SOPs for scale.
What We’re Looking For:
3+ years of hands-on payroll experience, preferably in a multi state or multi entity environment.
Experience with payroll in logistics or trucking environments, including variable driver pay structures.
Proficiency with Gusto, Rippling, or similar payroll systems, along with strong skills in Google Sheets or Excel.
High attention to detail with the ability to audit data, identify errors, and maintain clean records.
Comfort working in a fast moving environment with tight deadlines and evolving processes.
Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with HR, Operations, and drivers.
Preferred:
Familiarity with tools such as Brex, QuickBooks Online, or Carta as they relate to payroll integrations.
