The Product Platform team is responsible for designing, implementing, scaling and operating systems, tools and frameworks to build event-based or data powered product experiences. You’ll join a team of talented engineers in our mission to build the best in class foundational platforms that are key to the company’s business and product. Notion’s platforms and infrastructure are vital to enabling our product features like search, automations, user notifications, workspace analytics and Notion AI.

What You'll Achieve:

• You'll own and play a pivotal role in the development of systems, tools and infrastructure that enable data and data systems powered product use-cases.

• You'll work cross-functionally with engineers and partners from the Product, Data Science, Data Engineering and AI teams to deliver short- and long-term impact.

• You’ll work on all levels of the stack including infrastructure, libraries and product code as needed to successfully build and deliver internal platforms that provide high leverage to multiple product teams

• You’ll help in influencing / executing the roadmap for streaming infrastructure and systems to power high scale product features using Notion’s data.

• You'll be responsible for monitoring and operating systems in production. You’ll understand systems deeply, optimize performance and evolve critical production systems with minimal user disruption.

Skills You'll Need to Bring:

• An eye for unlocking products with platforms. You design for today’s use-cases while anticipating tomorrow’s, ensuring the platform scales across teams and workloads. You bring a product mindset to platform work, shaping tools that developers genuinely want to adopt.

• Passion for systems at scale: You have worked on data or infrastructure-focused engineering teams, particularly ones that own a wide swath of software platforms (hosted or built in-house). You've experienced the challenges of scaling and re-architecting event-based platforms and infrastructure through orders of magnitude of growth and scaling data volume. You deeply care about performance and cost while delivering value.

• Adaptable and willingness to learn how things work: you love to learn how the systems you build are used at a fundamental level. You get excited at the idea of leaning into your users’ world and help make it better.

• Thoughtful problem-solving & problem-seeking: For you, problem-solving starts with a clear and accurate understanding of the context. You can decompose tricky problems and work towards a clean solution, by yourself or with teammates. After gaining context, you can identify patterns and scope for improvements.

• Pragmatic and business-oriented: You care about the business impact of what you're building, and you prioritize projects accordingly. You're not just going after cool stuff—you understand the balance between craft, speed, and the bottom line.

Nice to Haves:

• You've built out and scaled event-based platforms at a fast-growing startup.

• You’ve had prior experience with asynchronous workflow systems or event-based architecture, using technologies like Kafka and Redis.

• You’ve had past experience working full-stack in Typescript and node.js ecosystem

Notion is committed to providing highly competitive cash compensation, equity, and benefits. The compensation offered for this role will be based on multiple factors such as location, the role’s scope and complexity, and the candidate’s experience and expertise, and may vary from the range provided below. For roles based in San Francisco, the estimated base salary range for this role is $230,000 - $260,000 per year.
