Summary
The Manager of Brokerage Risk is a leadership role responsible for overseeing the Brokerage Risk team and ensuring the brokerage’s trading operations are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory and internal standards. This role blends hands-on risk management with team leadership, providing strategic oversight while supporting brokerage customers and internal processes. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, decisive under pressure, and thrives in a fast-paced environment. They have deep knowledge of futures trading, strong decision-making skills, and are proficient with analytical tools and reporting platforms.
The Manager of Brokerage Risk champions a customer-centric approach while maintaining rigorous risk controls. They lead by example, ensuring swift and decisive action in response to operational challenges, risk events, or unusual account activity.
Core Focus
The essential duties and responsibilities are as follows (other duties may be assigned).
- Oversee daily operations of the Brokerage Risk team, including brokerage account monitoring, margin enforcement, and liquidation supervision.
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and performance management to Brokerage Risk Analysts, ensuring team adherence to policies and regulatory standards.
- Supervise Brokerage customer activity for compliance with trading rules.
- Exercise sound judgment in adjusting risk parameters and making discretionary risk decisions.
- Develop and maintain relationships with brokerage and clearing partners to support smooth trading operations.
- Enforce trading rules, including prohibited conduct and gamification prevention.
- Monitor market conditions and account activity, communicating insights to leadership and recommending risk adjustments as needed.
- Support system integrity by ensuring all trading and risk monitoring systems operate effectively.
- Oversee maintenance and improvement of in-house risk tools and reporting dashboards.
- Compile and analyze data to support business decisions and identify trends or emerging risks.
- Ownership of CFTC/NFA Risk audit readiness
- Ensure the Brokerage Risk team maintains audit-ready documentation and complies with applicable CFTC and NFA standards.
- Ownership of logging/monitoring standards, override controls, periodic control testing, incident post-mortems with documented mitigations, and change-management sign-offs.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a related or equivalent field
- Advanced Excel Skills
- Experience working with professional financial institutions
- Experience in the trading industry - futures markets preferred
- Strong sense of accountability, integrity, and ethics.
- Excellent interpersonal skills: in person, on the phone, and via email
- Strong attention to detail
Preferred Skills
- Background in FCM or proprietary trading firm risk management.
- Familiarity with risk monitoring platforms (T4, CQG, TT, or similar).
- Series 3 license (or willingness to obtain).
- Experience leading system modernization or automation initiatives within a risk function.

New Hire Base Salary Range
- $100,000 - $115,000
- Bonus: This position is eligible for a performance-based bonus as provided by the plan terms and governing documents.
- The compensation offered will take into account internal compensation structure and may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
