Role Overview
As an Associate Director, you will lead the Digital Services offering for Turner & Townsend Japan, shaping and delivering our digital vision across major construction and capital projects. You will drive innovation both internally and on client engagements across Real Estate, Infrastructure, and Energy & Natural Resources sectors.
Working closely with our Project Management, Cost Management, Procurement and Supply Chain teams, you will design, implement, and embed bestinclass digital solutions that enhance how we deliver projects—improving productivity, predictability, quality, and client value.
These solutions will span digital advisory, BIM, project controls, programme and portfolio platforms, data analytics, AI-driven insights, and construction site digitalisation. You will play a crucial leadership role in driving adoption, capability development, and measurable digital transformation across the business.
Key Responsibilities
1. Digital Strategy & Innovation
Define and execute the digital strategy for Japan, aligning emerging technologies with client needs and organisational goals.
Drive adoption of digital transformation initiatives across Project Management, Cost Management, and multi-sector client portfolios.
Identify opportunities for innovation, value creation, and continuous improvement.
2. Project Strategy & Delivery
Lead end-to-end delivery of digital projects—from consultation and design to deployment, testing, and change management.
Establish and monitor critical success factors, KPIs, and delivery standards.
Manage multiple concurrent digital programmes using agile or hybrid methodologies.
Act as Product Owner or Project Sponsor for strategic digital initiatives.
3. Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration
Work with internal leaders, client stakeholders, IT teams, and vendors to ensure solutions meet operational and strategic objectives.
Facilitate requirement-gathering workshops across diverse client and internal groups.
Lead issue resolution, risk management, and cross-team alignment.
4. Technology & Data Enablement
Translate business requirements into scalable digital solution designs across enterprise systems, workflow platforms, and data environments.
Lead the development of workflow automation leveraging cloud, open-source, and SaaS technologies.
Champion data platforms and architectures supporting ingestion, analytics, insights, and reporting.
5. Governance, Compliance & Continuous Improvement
Establish digital governance frameworks, standards, and best practices.
Oversee documentation, SOPs, system audits, and compliance activity across projects.
Support implementation of ISO and industry standards for digital delivery.
6. Business Development & Growth
Support proposal development, bid responses, and client presentations.
Work with regional teams to identify new opportunities and shape tailored digital solutions.
Provide market insights, competitive benchmarking, and thought leadership to strengthen the firm’s digital market position.
7. Financial Oversight
Manage digital project budgets, forecasts, reporting, and investment planning.
Analyse cost drivers and variations; support commercial negotiations and contract management.
Oversee invoicing processes in D365, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely billing.
8. People Leadership
Line-manage digital professionals; mentor, coach, and develop team capability.
Drive performance management, engagement, and career development.
Lead resource planning and support workforce development across digital services.
Essential
Bachelor’s degree in BIM, Computer Science, Engineering, Construction, Business Administration, or related discipline.
7–10+ years’ experience in digital transformation, digital delivery, or project management, including 3+ years in a leadership role.
Proven track record delivering complex, multi-stakeholder digital programmes.
Experience in BIM, data analytics, or digital consultancy environments.
Strong knowledge of systems integration, workflow automation, and software development lifecycles.
Preferred
Experience with Industry 4.0 technologies, cloud transformation, and enterprise digital platforms.
Postgraduate qualifications (MBA, MSc, etc.).
Experience in construction or capital projects environments.
Skills & Competencies
Strong strategic thinking capability with the ability to convert digital goals into actionable programmes.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management across multicultural environments (Japan/APAC).
Proven ability to influence senior leaders and manage complex vendor ecosystems.
Analytical and problem-solving mindset with strong commercial awareness.
