We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Export Compliance Manager to oversee our export compliance operations across Singapore and India. This role is critical in ensuring that our cross-border movements of goods, technology, and services align with local laws and international regulations.The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between complex legal requirements and efficient business operations, serving as a key advisor to our supply chain, legal, and sales teams.
What You'll Do
This role will be responsible for export compliance controls to support strategic and operational initiatives with a focus on managing APAC orders. This role will ensure transactions are compliant to the Singapore/India and the U.S. Export Control regulations export control regulations.
- Export Control Order Screening – Support internal systems, policies, and procedures to ensure that all exports, both from the US and those originating from international locations, comply with all applicable US laws and regulations, as well as those of the originating country and determine the appropriate export license. Validate end user statements for transactions under the Singapore Bulk export license.
- Manage the end-to-end application process for export permits via Singapore’s TradeNet/TradeWeb and India’s DGFT (Directorate General of Foreign Trade) portal.
- Know Your Customer - Complete end user entity classification and diversion due diligence by screening new partners to satisfy regulatory requirements. Utilize tools and search skills to obtain and document data for analysis and to establish audit trails.
- Product export control classification - Support the internal procedures for product export classification control determination to ensure alignment with regional regulatory requirements.
- Support Hong Kong Trade and Industry Department applications (SC037) for preclassification of product and customer requests for information on import/export licenses for controlled dual use products.
- Training & Advisory – Design and deliver training modules for regional staff, business partners and online learning modules on export compliance policies, procedures and strategic goods. Advise the business on the impact of trade sanctions, embargoes, and export controls.
- Internal Compliance Program (ICP) development and enhancements to tailor an ICP to the specific legal landscapes of each jurisdiction and meeting US Export Administration requirements. Monitor regional export compliance regulatory changes and advise on impacts to current internal policies and procedures. Provide updates and communications related to regulatory and policy changes.
- Audits & Risk Management: Perform regular internal audits and self-assessments to identify potential compliance gaps. Manage voluntary disclosures if violations are identified.
- Act as the primary point of contact for government audits or inquiries from Singapore Customs or India Customs/DGFT.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, International Relations, Law, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in export compliance, trade compliance, or international logistics, preferably within the technology or networking industry.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Solid foundational understanding of the Singapore Strategic Goods (Control) Act (SGCA), the India SCOMET (Special Chemicals, Organisms, Materials, Equipment, and Technologies) list and U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR), including classification and licensing exceptions (especially ENC).
- Technical Tools: Prior experience using major Global Trade Management (GTM) software platforms such as e2open (Trade Express), SAP GTS, or similar screening and classification tools, google sheets, documents and other data analysis tools.
- Skills: High attention to detail and accuracy, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to interpret and apply complex regulatory texts. Excellent communication (written and verbal) and collaboration skills for working in a global team environment.
