Job Description Summary
The Cloud Systems Analyst – FinOps & Security plays a key role in aligning business needs, cloud architecture, financial accountability, and security across non-production environments. This position acts as both a technical and financial strategist, ensuring internal cloud systems and SaaS platforms are efficient, cost-effective, and secure. The role supports organization-wide cloud cost management, usage optimization, and SaaS security governance.
Business Systems Analysis & Solution Design
Partner with technical product owners, IT teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to understand business processes, requirements, and objectives.
Translate business needs into detailed technical specifications, user stories, and process flows to support IT implementation.
Serve as the primary point of contact between business units and IT, ensuring solutions align with organizational strategy and system capabilities.
Cloud FinOps & Cost Optimization
Monitor, analyze, and optimize cloud usage through FinOps platforms to maximize cost efficiency while supporting internal team productivity.
Define and enforce cloud resource tagging standards and cost allocation models to enable accurate chargebacks and financial transparency.
Collaborate with IT and business teams to identify and implement cost-saving initiatives, including:
Rightsizing non-production resources
Auto-shutdown and scheduling policies
Strategic use of Reserved Instances and Savings Plans for internal tools
Produce monthly OPEX variance reports, forecasts, and actionable insights for finance partners and departmental leadership.
SaaS & System Security Review
Establish governance and review processes for the security posture of critical SaaS collaboration platforms (e.g., Google Workspace).
Regularly review security logs, audit trails, and access reports to detect anomalies, unauthorized access, and policy violations.
Document identified security risks and collaborate with the Security team to define remediation plans, owners, and timelines.
Ensure all system changes comply with internal security standards and compliance requirements.
Experience: 3–5 years in a blended role involving Business Analysis and Cloud Infrastructure or Financial Management.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and rapidly shift focus across cloud operations, security compliance, and business initiatives.
FinOps Expertise: Proven experience managing cloud billing, cost reporting, and optimization across at least two major cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure), with a strong emphasis on OPEX and non-production environments.
Security Knowledge: Working understanding of IT security fundamentals, IAM concepts, and reviewing SaaS security logs and audit data.
Tools & Technology: Hands-on experience with FinOps platforms, major cloud providers, SaaS collaboration tools (Google Workspace), Jira, Confluence, and data analysis/reporting tools.
This is a hybrid role, requiring three days per week in the office.
