Job Title: General Ledger (GL) Accountant
Location: Remote (Philippines)
Reports To: Controller
Work Schedule: Normal business hours in the Philippines with small adjustments for overlap with the U.S. team. Initial ramp-up may require earlier hours to ensure sufficient collaboration. Post-ramp-up, an hour of daily overlap (starting at 8:00 AM PST / 5:00 PM MST) will be required.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled General Ledger (GL) Accountant to take ownership of core accounting functions, optimize financial processes, and support automation initiatives. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with NetSuite, have successfully closed books for a U.S.-based entity, and possess strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP. This role will focus on journal entries, month-end reconciliations, AP processing, cash and credit card recording, and NetSuite optimization. The GL Accountant will also play a key role in enhancing back-office processes and automation efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
- NetSuite Optimization & Automation: Lead efforts to streamline accounting workflows and automate processes within NetSuite.
- General Ledger Management: Record and maintain journal entries, ensuring accuracy and compliance with U.S. GAAP.
- Month-End Close: Prepare reconciliations and schedules, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Accounts Payable (AP): Oversee AP processes, ensuring timely and accurate vendor payments.
- Cash & Credit Card Transactions: Accurately record and reconcile all cash and credit card transactions.
- Process Improvement: Identify inefficiencies and implement best practices to improve financial operations.
- Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with internal stakeholders to support financial decision-making.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in general ledger accounting.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting.
- Extensive experience with NetSuite and a proven track record of closing books for a U.S.-based entity.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas, pivot tables, data analysis).
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and drive process improvements.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have):
- Experience with SQL for financial data analysis.
- Proficiency in Snowflake, Ramp, and Rippling.
- Experience leveraging AI for accounting automation.
- Audit experience (Big 4 background is a plus).
