Mechanical Technician (Diesel Mechanic)

The Mechanical Technician is responsible for maintaining equipment/machine/vehicle/generator sets operations by completing inspections and preventive maintenance requirements; and conducts troubleshooting. correcting deficiencies, making adjustments and alignments, keeping records, conducting repairs and troubleshooting.

 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

1. Performs preventive and corrective maintenance activities on farm equipment and machinery ensuring the efficient running and prolonged service life of the machines and equipment.

2. Conducts problem solving activities on causes and corrective measures for mechanical variances. Solicits the advice of the Maintenance Supervisor for problems that remain unsolved.

3. Conducts routine inspection of machinery and equipment operating parameters as prescribed, initiates corrective measures on any abnormality. 

4. Performs scheduled lubrication works on plant equipment and machineries.

5. Designs and monitors any mechanical fabrication and installation works.

6. Maintains spare parts inventory and prepares a list of required parts to be ordered. 

7. Analyzes spare parts received prior to storage ensuring that these are of good quality and have correct specifications.

8. Ensures that all accomplished work orders and other records are documented, up to date, and accurate.

9. Attend emergency service requests and night calls as needed.

10. Ensures the plant is 5S compliant. Assists in leading 5S improvement

11. Assists in supervision of contractors in performance of contracted works ensuring quality workmanship and specification.

12. Performs and leads the start-up of farm equipment.

13. Performs other related works in carrying out the objective of his position and as may be assigned by immediate superior.

14. Ensures all important matters are turned over to the incoming shift engineer/technician.

15. Monitors and analyzes fuel consumption to detect any abnormality in regular fuel consumption based on plant output.

16. Monitors and analyzes water consumption to detect any abnormality in regular water consumption based on plant output.

17. Monitors and analyzes power consumption to detect any abnormality in regular power consumption based on plant/farm facility output.

18. Supports in ensuring the repair and maintenance cost is within the monthly budget.

19. Initiates (once approved) any project innovations and improvement to help minimize operating cost.

 

FOOD SAFETY:

1. Ensures execution of quality, Halal (if applicable), health and food safety policy, standards and regulations within the team. 

2. Responsible for reporting problems related to Halal, food safety & quality management system to identified authorities.

SAP SYSTEM:

1. Implementation of the SAP Enterprise Asset Management System (SAP EAM), ensuring optimum utilization of the system.

2. Regular accomplishment of work orders gathered in SAP.

3. Ensure SAP EAM data are reliable for the formulation appropriate enhancement on the maintenance process and the system itself.

OTHER TASKS:

1. Actively participate in all company programs and activities under quality improvement, safety & security, sustainability, corporate social responsibility,  risk management etc. 

2. Performs other tasks related to the job as may be assigned by the immediate superior.

Education:

•  Mechanical Technology Graduate or equivalent  

Experience:

• With at least 2 year experience working on mechanical equipment operation and maintenance

• With basic background on refrigeration (ammonia system) operation.

Licenses:

• Certified  Mechanic or equivalent
