About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Practice Lead to join us our Conveyancing Team at Woodstock Legal Services. This is a senior, hands-on role with responsibility for supervising a high-volume conveyancing team and acting as the go-to expert across all aspects of residential conveyancing.
The role covers end-to-end conveyancing matters, including (but not limited to):
Transfers of title
Remortgages
Matters involving lenders
Building Safety Act considerations
You will provide legal oversight, answer technical queries, conduct file reviews, and ensure compliance and quality across the team. This role is ideal for a confident, independent professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys supporting others to deliver excellent outcomes.

Responsibilities
Supervision & Support:
Provide expert guidance and oversight across all residential conveyancing matters (including sales, purchases, transfers of title, remortgages, lender work, and Building Safety Act considerations).
Act as the go-to expert for consultants and case handlers, ensuring consistent legal standards and timely progression of files.
Compliance & Risk Management:
Ensure strict adherence to SRA / CLC regulatory requirements, lender panel rules, and Conveyancing Quality Scheme (CQS) standards.
Conduct initial and ongoing legal file reviews, audits, and risk assessments, maintaining compliance with AML, client care, and record-keeping obligations.
Operational Excellence:
Oversee day-to-day conveyancing operations in a high-volume environment, ensuring matters progress within agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
Proactively identify and resolve issues to support smooth and timely completions.
Quality Assurance:
Review and sign off key documentation and pre-completion packs, ensuring legal accuracy, lender compliance, and readiness for submission.
Stakeholder Liaison & Advice:
Work closely with our consultants and provide clear, pragmatic, solutions-focused legal advice on complex or non-standard conveyancing matters.
What You'll Bring
Minimum 5 years’ experience in residential conveyancing as one of the following:
Solicitor
Licensed Conveyancer (CLC)
CILEX
At least 2 years’ experience in a supervisory or team-lead role.
Strong experience acting for lenders and managing mortgage-related conveyancing matters.
Broad technical knowledge across all areas of residential conveyancing, including the Building Safety Act.
Experience conducting legal file reviews and providing supervision.
A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with excellent problem-solving skills.
Exceptional attention to detail and strong written and verbal communication skills.
