We’re the construction planning platform replacing outdated spreadsheets with collaborative, real-time tools that delivery teams genuinely enjoy using. Leading contractors including Balfour Beatty, Kier, Vinci, along with John Holland, CPB Contractors and Acciona, rely on Aphex to deliver projects ranging from £50M projects to multi-billion-pound megaprojects.
Aphex is the market-leading planning platform for Tier 1 and Tier 2 infrastructure contractors in the UK and Australia. Since launching in the UK in 2019, we’ve transformed how major contractors plan and deliver complex projects across transport, utilities, and the built environment. Today, Aphex supports teams delivering roads, rail, tunnels, hospitals, energy and major building projects across the UK and Europe, helping them bring certainty to some of the most complex construction programmes on the continent.
We’re tackling an industry responsible for ~10% of global GDP that has seen productivity decline for over 20 years. It’s time for change.
We’re looking for a Business Development Manager (EMEA) to help open doors with leading UK and European contractors. You’ll be the person who sparks conversations with project teams, understands how they plan work today, and creates opportunities for Aphex to help them deliver projects more predictably.
This isn’t a pure cold-calling role. You’ll own opportunities from first contact through to closing the first project deployment within each contractor, before handing the relationship to an Account Executive to scale enterprise-wide. Think of it as owning the front door: you identify the right people, run discovery conversations, and close initial projects that demonstrate Aphex’s value on live jobs.
You’ll work closely with an Account Executive who will support you on demos and help navigate larger, multi-project opportunities. Once a project is live, the account transitions to them for expansion — but the initial win is yours.
Progression: This role is designed as a launchpad. Within 12 months, high performers will have a clear path to either:
Progress into an Account Executive role, owning the full sales cycle across EMEA, or
Help scale the EMEA BD function, mentoring future hires as the region grows.
The team: You’ll be an early BD hire in EMEA, working alongside experienced Account Executives and Customer Managers who have built Aphex into a trusted platform for major UK contractors.
Identify and engage project teams at target UK and European contractors via LinkedIn, warm introductions, events and targeted outbound
Run discovery conversations to understand how teams currently plan work and where Aphex can help
Partner with an Account Executive on demos, providing project context while they showcase the product
Close initial project deployments (typically ~£10–15k ACV) that prove value within a contractor
Build relationships with Engineers, Project Managers, Planners, and Construction Managers who become internal champions
Maintain a focused pipeline across a defined list of contractors, frameworks, and live projects
At Aphex, we believe our team should reflect the diversity of the industry and regions we work in. If you don’t meet every requirement but believe you’d thrive here, we’d still love to hear from you.
Essential:
Experience working in or around construction, with a credible understanding of how projects are delivered
Strong relationship-building skills — you value meaningful conversations over activity metrics
Motivation to gain closing experience and progress into a full-cycle Account Executive role
High ownership mindset — you care deeply about outcomes and the quality of every interaction
Highly valued:
Experience as a BDR/SDR or BDM within construction or construction technology
Background in construction recruitment (strong persona knowledge and existing network)
Commercial or BD experience within a contractor or consultancy
Track record of hitting targets in roles where quality and trust mattered as much as volume
Construction experience is helpful but not required — curiosity and willingness to learn how complex projects operate is essential.
High-volume, low-quality outbound approaches
Someone seeking a low-pressure role — expectations are clear, focused, and meaningful
Candidates looking to “rip everything up” on day one — we’ve built playbooks that work and want someone to master them first
Clear progression: A genuine path to Account Executive within 12 months for high performers
