The Data Engineer for Manufacturing Data Services collaborates with colleagues to develop and operate our Manufacturing Data Lake (MDL) hosted in the cloud. We manage data pipelines from the plants' MES-OLTP Oracle databases located in local data centers, performing additional data engineering tasks to provide the data in our MDL. In addition to utilizing native cloud services, we are currently exploring the implementation of a data intelligence platform to enhance our offerings. All tasks are executed in accordance with company guidelines, the SAFe @ MA roles within the agile MDL team, and under the functional leadership of the Head of Manufacturing Platform.
Principal accountabilities:
- Works globally at the development and operations of our cloud – based Manufacturing Data Lake and Manufacturing Data Services.
- Part of the service (DevOps) – team / SAFe-agile – team “MDL”.
- Designs and adopts new technical developments for possible optimization of the solutions
- Develops and rolls out ongoing optimization of our implementation with respect to cost/benefit
- Provides guidance to and share knowledge with platform users relating to the area of specialization.
- Tests and releases software components (doing or coordinating) by using CI/CD pipelines.
- Supports Incident Management (3rd level support) partly together with external service provider.
- Consults our customers to enable them to use our platform (data structures, APIs, applications, etc.) in an efficient way.
- Collaborates with IT CC’s, central functions, and/or Business Areas to develop standard solutions.
Supports continuous technology market screening and optimizations of the platform.
Required qualifications:
- Demonstrated experiences in AWS data service like Neptune, Athena, S3, RDS (Oracle), EC2, ECS and Lambda (Serverless)
- Demonstrated experiences in using SQL or comparable query languages
- Experiences and knowledge in relational databases
- Experiences using modern data platform principles
- Experiences in the usage of CI / CD – pipelines
- Experiences in software development (Python, Angular, C# or comparable)
- Self-dependent and team-minded
- Good English skills in writing and speaking.
Optional qualifications:
- Demonstrated knowledge of data engineering tasks
- Knowledge about agile frameworks and methods (e.g. SAFe)
- Knowledge about Full stack development for solutions providing insight from MDL
- Optional knowledge about Manufacturing processes
