The Opportunity To Make An Impact
Bully Pulpit International is seeking a visionary and results-driven Managing Director, Campaign Strategy & Public Affairs. This senior leadership role is critical to defining the strategic and narrative direction for our most high-profile clients, ensuring their public positioning is powerful, relevant, and impactful. The ideal candidate is a master strategist and compelling storyteller with deep roots in politics, culture, and the advertising landscape.
- Salary: $200,000 - $225,000
- Location: Expectation to work from one of our offices (DC, NY, Chi, SF or LA) at least 3x a week
What Day to Day Looks Like
1. Strategic & Creative Leadership
- Develop Core Positioning: Lead the creation of robust and differentiated positioning, messaging, and narrative strategies for clients navigating complex public affairs environments. Ideally with experience in tech.
- Strategy & Execution: Drive and support the external vision for all major campaigns, translating strategic objectives into compelling, culturally resonant, and executable creative ideas across various media (digital, advertising, earned media, etc.). Works closely with BPI in-house creative team.
- Strategic Framework Development: Design and implement proprietary marketing frameworks, models, and analytical approaches to guide client strategy, measure effectiveness, and establish best practices within the agency.
- Advertising Integration: Deeply understand the modern advertising ecosystem, including media planning, ad technology, and creative best practices, to integrate seamlessly with public affairs initiatives.
2. Thought Leadership & Market Expertise
- Public Affairs POV: Maintain and articulate a strong, informed, and forward-looking point of view on the current public affairs, political, and cultural landscapes.
- Client Counsel: Provide expert, executive-level counsel to clients on potential risks, opportunities, and the strategic implications of political and cultural shifts on their brand reputation and policy objectives.
- Trend Identification: Proactively identify emerging trends in public opinion, policy, and media consumption to inform and elevate client strategies.
3. Pitching, Presentation, & Communication
- Strategic Deck Creation: Conceptualize, write, and oversee the production of flawless, insightful, and visually compelling strategic decks for new business pitches and ongoing client reviews.
- Executive Presentation: Present complex strategies and campaign concepts clearly, succinctly, and persuasively to C-suite executives, boards, and high-level stakeholders.
- Team Communication: Serve as a clear communication bridge between strategy, creative, account, and media teams, ensuring alignment and flawless execution.
