iFIT is looking for visionary experts to join our Science Council Advisor Board, a dedicated advisory group shaping the future of fitness and wellness technology. We are currently seeking a specialized advisor with deep expertise in Strength Performance to guide the scientific direction of resistance training, muscular development, and performance programming across iFIT’s ecosystem.
The Science Council will be composed of approximately five advisors, each bringing domain-specific expertise across key disciplines, including Metabolic Science and Weight Loss, Cardio Performance, Behavioral Psychology, and Sports Science, Biometrics, and Biostatistics. This role represents the Strength Performance domain and plays a critical role in ensuring iFIT’s strength training methodologies, program design, and performance outcomes are grounded in rigorous science and real-world application across diverse populations.
This is a fractional, advisor-level role focused on strategic guidance, scientific validation, and thought leadership rather than day-to-day execution.
Commitments:
- Provide high-level scientific guidance on resistance training, muscle physiology, strength adaptation, and load management, ensuring iFIT strength programming reflects current best practices and emerging research.
Review and validate strength training programs, protocols, and methodologies for scientific rigor, safety, and effectiveness across clinical, general fitness, and elite performance populations. - Actively participate in monthly Science Council meetings and cross-disciplinary collaboration, contributing strength performance expertise to inform a cohesive, science-led fitness strategy.
- Contribute to research review, emerging trend analysis, and quarterly insights related to strength training, muscular health, and long-term performance outcomes.
- Conduct research studies to validate program or product efficacy.
Role Responsibilities:
- Advise on muscle physiology, neuromuscular adaptations, hypertrophy, maximal strength development, and power output as it pertains to new product development, content development, user personalization, plan programming, and research study design.
- Provide guidance on biomechanical considerations, movement efficiency, and injury risk mitigation
- Review and advise on strength training program design for diverse populations including clinical or special populations, general fitness users, and elite or high-performance athletes
- Translate complex scientific principles into practical, scalable, and individualized training frameworks
- Ensure program recommendations balance progression, recovery, and long-term adherence
- Support research design, review, and interpretation related to resistance training and muscular performance
Advise on integration of peer-reviewed research into product and program development - Contribute to quarterly reports summarizing research trends and evidence-based recommendations
- Advise on performance measurement, progression tracking, and outcomes evaluation related to strength and resistance training
- Support interpretation of training load, volume, intensity, and recovery data across populations
- Advise on scientific, safety, and regulatory considerations related to strength training and resistance exercise
- Participate in PR and media efforts including expert quotes and press releases as a Science Council representative
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, Biomechanics, Sports Science, or a closely related field
- Substantial peer-reviewed publication history in reputable, high-impact scientific journals focused on strength training, resistance exercise, muscle physiology, or related disciplines
- Demonstrated experience designing strength training programs across diverse populations, including clinical or special populations, general fitness users, and elite or high-performance athletes
- Proven ability to translate complex scientific principles into effective, practical, and individualized training programs
- Holds at least one professional certification related to strength and conditioning
- Ability to commit approximately 5 hours per week as part of a Science Council of 4–5 advisors
- Availability to participate in monthly Science Council meetings, with a mix of remote sessions and periodic in-person meetings in Park City
- Willingness to offer structured office hours through a booking system to support internal teams
- Capacity to support research initiatives and contribute to quarterly reports on trends and recommendations
- Availability for PR or media participation as a scientific representative when needed
Preferred:
- Experience advising digital fitness, strength training, or performance technology platforms
- Background integrating wearable, biomechanical, or force measurement data into strength programming
- Experience working in applied research settings bridging laboratory findings with real-world training environments
