Job function:
The MES System Consultant is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing automated testing solutions to ensure the quality and reliability of software applications. This role involves working closely with the development and DevOps teams to integrate automated testing into the software development lifecycle and deliver high-quality products efficiently. All the tasks are executed in accordance with company guidelines, the SAFe @ MA roles within the MES Core Services agile team, and under the functional leadership of the Head of Core Services.
Principal accountabilities:
- Works globally at the development and operations of our standard solutions
- Part of SAFe agile team “MES Core Services”.
- Develop and roll out ongoing optimization of our implementation with respect to cost/benefit
- Supports Incident Management (3rd level support) partly together with external service provider.
- Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks using Python, Playwright (preferred) or Selenium.
- Implement behavior-driven development (BDD) using pytest-bdd for structured test case design.
- Execute manual and automated test cases to validate software functionality and performance.
- Integrate automated test suites with CI/CD pipelines to streamline validation processes.
- Utilize Allure for test reporting and visualization, improving traceability and reporting accuracy.
- Provide clear, structured feedback through detailed bug reporting, user experience analysis, requirement evaluation, and test case creation based on new requirements.
- Define and maintain scalable, modular test automation strategies for maintainability and efficiency.
- Participate in incident management processes, identifying root causes, documenting findings, and ensuring timely resolution of issues impacting software quality.
- Work closely with development, DevOps, and operations teams to improve incident response workflows and proactively mitigate future risks.
- Create and maintain structured documentation using Confluence and Jira to ensure transparency in testing strategies, requirements analysis, and defect tracking.
Required qualifications:
- Extensive experience in manual and automated testing.
- Proficiency in Python and test automation frameworks (Playwright preferred, Selenium acceptable).
- Strong hands-on experience with pytest-bdd for BDD-style testing.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and automated test integration.
- Familiarity with Allure or similar tools for test reporting and visualization.
- Strong analytical skills for designing and executing comprehensive test cases.
- Excellent communication skills, with a focus on bug reporting, user experience feedback, requirement analysis, test case creation, and incident management.
- Strong knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems, with experience in troubleshooting, scripting, and optimizing test environments.
- Experience working within SAFe Agile environments.
- Knowledge of documentation practices using Confluence and Jira.
- Hands-on experience with GitHub for version control, Jenkins for CI/CD automation, and Artifactory for package and dependency management.
Optional qualifications:
- Experience in end-to-end testing automation.
- Background in modularizing test suites for scalability and efficiency.
- Familiarity with microservices and container orchestration (Rancher is a plus).
- Manufacturing background is a plus.
