KPFF Seattle’s Civil Team designs sites that enable land to be developed for commercial, residential, institutional, and recreational purposes. We also design critical public and private infrastructure systems that support the built and natural environments, including district energy, regional storm drainage facilities, utility grids, and trails. We support projects ranging from feasibility evaluations and master planning to design, permitting, and construction. Located in downtown Seattle, our Civil Engineering team is seeking a Civil Engineer with 4 - 7 years experience. This position will provide the opportunity for you to dive headfirst into real-world projects from day one. You’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and contribute to the design and development of civil infrastructure across the Pacific Northwest and beyond; as well as:
- Lead and support design efforts in site planning, grading, drainage, utility layout, and stormwater systems.
- Utilize AutoCAD, Civil 3D, AutoTurn, and other design software to produce detailed drawings, conduct vehicular turning studies, and support engineering analysis.
- Prepare and review technical reports, drainage studies, feasibility analyses, and design presentations to communicate project findings and recommendations.
- Assist in managing project tasks, coordinating timelines, budgets, and resources to meet deliverables.
- Prepare draft proposals and scopes of work
- Collaborate with contractors, consultants, and internal teams, providing expert guidance throughout project execution.
- Build strong client relationships by understanding their needs and delivering tailored solutions.
- Research jurisdictional codes and manuals to determine design requirements.
- Assist with permitting processes, liaise with regulatory agencies, and uphold high standards of design quality and regulatory compliance.
- Conduct site visits to perform assessments, verify compliance with design standards, observe construction progress, and ensure adherence to best practices.
- Serve as a trusted advisor, offering expert guidance and proactive support throughout project execution.
- Drive sustainable civil engineering solutions.
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies, applying innovative approaches to improve processes and project outcomes.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in civil (preferred) or environmental engineering.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
- 4-7 years of experience working under the supervision of a licensed professional civil engineer.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Desire and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
- Familiarity with stormwater hydrology modeling.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Washington State Professional Engineer (PE) license in civil engineering.
Physical Demands:
- Duties are primarily conducted in a standard office setting, requiring prolonged periods of sitting at a desk or computer table.
- Occasionally may be required to lift objects weighing up to 15 lbs.
- Occasionally visiting project and construction sites may involve walking, standing, kneeling, or navigating uneven terrain.
- Traveling to project sites or client meetings, which may involve driving or flying.
Compensation:
The base salary for this role is competitive and will be determined based on the candidate's experience, education, and skills. The expected range for a qualified candidate is $86,000.00 - $105,000.00 annually.
