Patient Collection Specialist

Reporting to the RCM Lead, the Patient Collections Specialist will oversee and execute patient collections initiatives in order to resolve outstanding patient balances in a timely, professional, and compliant manner. This remote role is part of the HOPS team and plays a critical role in supporting financial health and ensuring access to care by maintaining efficient collections processes. This is a full time remote position on our team. Occasional travel may be required for company or team events. At Spring Health we value internal mobility. What you’ll do:

• Oversee and execute patient collection initiatives.
• Monitor outbound patient outreach campaigns (phone, email, text) to resolve outstanding balances aligned with company strategy.
• Coordinate with external collection agencies and offshore patient collection team, including account uploads and resolution of daily issues.
• Track and analyze accounts receivable aging to identify and act on high-priority accounts.
• Document all patient interactions and collection efforts in our system of record to ensure compliance and accurate reporting.
• Collaborate across billing, AR, and customer support teams to resolve discrepancies, update patient info, and enhance collection rates.

What success looks like:

• Maintain or exceed target recovery rate from patient accounts on a monthly basis with a goal of increasing the patient collection rate by 5% per quarter.
• Reduce days outstanding for high-balance accounts by 5% within 6 months.
• Achieve resolution timelines for collection agency coordination within 5 business days.
• Improve patient satisfaction scores in collections-related interactions.
• Reduction in outstanding patient A/R and Bad Debt by 5%

What you’ll bring:

• 2+ years of experience in patient collections, medical billing, or healthcare revenue cycle.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills with a professional, empathetic approach.
• Working knowledge of insurance billing, patient responsibility balances, and HIPAA compliance.
• Proficiency with billing/collections software, CRM tools, and Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple accounts simultaneously, and meet defined collection goals.

The target base salary range for this position is $41.03 - $47.18 and is part of a competitive total rewards package including benefits. Individual pay may vary from the target range and is determined by a number of factors including experience, location, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations. We review all employee pay and compensation programs annually using Radford Global Compensation Database at minimum to ensure competitive and fair pay.
