Write your story with a career at Zip
Join Zip’s Data and AI squad, where we partner with teams across the business to supply fast, reliable and future-proof data that powers confident decision making on our most important challenges. Our engineers design and optimise modern data platforms and next-generation AI-enabled systems that underpin how Zip operates every day.
As a Senior Data Engineer II, you’ll play a pivotal role in supporting Zip’s SOX Compliance workstream. You’ll work closely with Finance, Risk and Compliance teams to optimise how key business processes, risks, controls and data lineage are documented, connected and maintained. Your work will reduce manual effort, improve data quality and strengthen confidence in the information that underpins our regulatory obligations.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working across data engineering, platform integration and DevOps, and who is motivated by building robust, enterprise-grade solutions in a regulated environment.
What you'll own
- Develop a strong understanding of Zip’s SOX Compliance program and translate regulatory and business requirements into scalable data engineering solutions.
- Design, build and enhance data pipelines and integrations that support systems such as Risk and Control Matrices, OpenMetadata data catalogues, SAP Signavio process management tools and future governance, risk and compliance platforms.
- Improve the way critical business objects such as risks, controls, issues, processes and data elements are synchronised, ensuring accuracy, consistency and strong data lineage across platforms.
- Apply modern DevOps and CI/CD practices to deploy, operate and monitor data solutions and their supporting infrastructure.
- Contribute to data models, engineering standards and architectural patterns that support enterprise-grade reliability, security and performance.
- Collaborate in an agile environment, working closely with engineers, product partners and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality outcomes aligned to regulatory timelines.
- Help explore and implement AI-enabled capabilities that increase self-service and automation across compliance and governance workflows.
What you'll bring to the team
- Strong hands-on experience designing and building data engineering solutions using modern platforms and tools.
- Proven experience working with cloud infrastructure, ideally AWS, including core services that support scalable data platforms.
- Solid database capability across relational and NoSQL technologies, with confidence designing data models that support complex business domains.
- Experience building and maintaining data pipelines and orchestration workflows using tools such as Airflow or similar.
- Practical DevOps capability, including CI/CD, version control and operational monitoring.
- Exposure to real-time or streaming data platforms such as Kafka, or a strong interest in this space.
- A thoughtful, detail-oriented approach to working in regulated or compliance-driven environments, where data quality and traceability matter.
- A mindset that embraces AI and new tools to adapt, learn and grow.
- An aptitude for identifying and managing risks. Whether you are a People Manager or an Individual Contributor, we are all leaders at Zip, therefore effective risk management is important to how we run our business and part of all our roles.
- Our values in your DNA: Customer First, Own It, Stronger Together and Change the Game
