We’re looking for a strategic design leader who is equally comfortable setting strategic direction as they are rolling up their sleeves and supporting execution. As Head of Product Design, you’ll lead and inspire a team of Product Designers, defining the future of how our vision and strategy come to life, evolving the Zoopla experience for Consumers, Agents and Builders. You’ll champion design and support our product strategy, enabling teams to deliver world-class user experiences while obsessing over funnels, data and commercial impact.
You will be accountable for not only how things look and work, but how they convert and how they grow. You’ll partner with product, engineering, data, marketing and commercial leadership to ensure proposition and design drives measurable outcomes. This is a rare opportunity to shape the proposition of a household brand while also operating as a performance-driven leader.
What you’ll be doing
Team Leadership & Culture
- Build, lead and evolve the Product Design team into a high-performing unit characterised by innovation, craft excellence, accountability and responsiveness.
- Set the tone for design culture: create the rituals, coaching, community of practice and feedback loops that drive discipline and growth.
- Serve as both a leader and contributor, maintaining a visible role in execution, setting standards for quality, and modelling what best-in-class looks like.
Design Strategy & Execution
- Define the overarching design strategy, how our brand, product experiences and design systems support business and product objectives.
- Translate insight (user research, data, market) into coherent design principles, systems and experiences.
- Collaborate tightly with product, marketing and engineering leadership to ensure alignment of design, product roadmap and business priorities.
- Direct and oversee the evolution and delivery of an integrated design system that supports scale, consistency, performance and brand integrity.
Funnel Ownership & Optimisation
- Own major funnels in our product ecosystem: acquisition, activation, engagement, retention and conversion.
- Use quantitative and qualitative insight to identify optimisation opportunities, establish hypotheses, run experiments, monitor results and iterate.
- Demonstrate a sharp understanding of UX, conversion optimisation and revenue levers, your fingerprints should be visible in improved metrics.
Strategic & Commercial Impact
- Position design as a strategic business driver. Make the case for design investment, articulating and presenting how design contributes to revenue, growth and customer value.
- Work closely with commercial, product and data leadership to shape design initiatives that marry user delight with business outcomes.
- Provide visibility and accountability into design’s contribution to KPIs, present to Exec level, telling the story of design’s impact.
Stakeholder Management & Influence
- Act as the design lead in senior forums, contributing to product strategy, offering insight and guidance to the Exec team and cross-functional leadership.
- Build strong relationships across product, engineering, data, marketing and commercial teams, you’ll need credibility, clarity and influence to mobilise change.
- Represent design externally and internally in a way that elevates the discipline and aligns it with the broader business agenda.
What we’re looking for
- A proven design leader with strong stakeholder management skills, comfortable presenting to and influencing at Exec level.
- A “get-stuff-done” mindset with bias for execution, you take ideas through to shipped outcomes and measurable impact.
- Demonstrable track record of delivering exceptional UX and design that has meaningfully improved commercial metrics (conversions, funnel metrics, revenue).
- Deep fluency in funnels, conversion optimisation, experimentation and data-informed design decisions.
- Credibility at executive level, you speak design, product and business, and understand how to align design strategy with growth and revenue goals.
- Experience leading change through teams, you can build, evolve and turn around design organisations, bring people with you, raise standards and embed new ways of working.
- Outcome orientation, you care about the difference your team makes, not just the output they create.
Why join us?
Join Zoopla at a pivotal moment. You’ll have the opportunity to shape the future experience of a major consumer brand, lead a talented team of designers, and make tangible impact on business growth.
