We’re hiring a Senior Product Designer to serve as the design owner across our product.
This is a highly hands-on, senior individual contributor role. This person’s primary responsibility will be durable ownership of design output: framing problems, enforcing a quality bar, and shipping reliable coherent designs with high independence and autonomy.
This role is analogous to a Tech Lead in Engineering -- a senior IC who can be unilaterally trusted to own quality and execution for their function.
You’ll own system-level cohesion across the Benepass product, driving unity and clarity across application surfaces.
You’ll be known for your excellence, holding up the quality bar on the team and setting the team’s visual standard.
You’ll be a hands-on designer, partnering with PMs and Engineers and, as needed, directing collaborators or contractors to support execution.
You’ll define how and when design work is reviewed, exercising judgment about which feedback matters and when work is ready to ship.
Take ambiguous product problems and frame them into clear design solutions
Own the quality standard for design and ensure cohesion and unity across application surfaces
Complete designs directly and, as needed, direct contractors and collaborators
Define and run the Design critique process, ensuring high quality designs ship consistently
Collaborate with integrity and be open to feedback without defensiveness
Use AI tools to accelerate your work
6+ years of Design experience, with a minimum of 3 years startup experience
Demonstrated ownership of design quality end-to-end for a product or major product area
Experience holding a strong internal quality bar
Preference for hands-on design work and desire to stay close to execution
Comfort operating in a complex environment and being the final Design decision maker
Fintech / benefits / e-commerce experience is a plus
Base salary of $170,000 to $190,000 + Equity
Range(s) is subject to change. Benepass takes a number of factors into account when determining individual starting pay, including your expectations, how you interview, peer compensation, and years of experience. We also look at the market data.
