About the Position:
We are looking for an entrepreneurial, driven colleague to support Cologix’s sales team in developing and closing opportunities by providing colocation/networking expertise and pre‑sales technical support for prospects, customers, and partners across our North American platform. The Solutions Architect will play a key role in educating customers of all sizes on Cologix’s value proposition and participating in deep technical discussions to ensure solutions are designed for successful deployment.
The Solutions Architect will be knowledgeable in, and support, all Cologix product lines, be proficient in colocation/networking environments, and effectively manage a demanding schedule across a wide variety of technical and pre‑sales goals. They should have a high‑level understanding of cloud services networking environments (private/public/hybrid) to define customer requirements and translate those requirements into Cologix technical solutions.
The primary role of the Solutions Architect is to function as a technical advisor/consultant for Cologix customers and the Cologix sales team, architecting creative and complex colocation and IT/cloud/networking solutions. The role requires a broad range of knowledge and understanding of critical facilities (electrical and cooling) and high‑performing infrastructure, as well as an understanding of the lower levels of the OSI model. The Solutions Architect should be able to articulate solutions to both technical and non‑technical audiences. They will also provide technical leadership and mentoring to the sales team, as well as to other internal groups and thought leaders within the organization.
This position supports all of Cologix’s North American platform (U.S. & Canada) and therefore may require some travel; however, it will be primarily focused on the Eastern U.S. market. The Solutions Architect may also be required to travel to other markets or locations where customer IT/engineering groups are based in order to conduct and lead on‑site customer meetings.
Essential Skills and Responsibilities:
- Broad knowledge of Internet technologies including servers, networking equipment, and storage design solutions for colocation, hosting, and cloud.
- Broad knowledge of AI systems and AI system architecture.
- Detailed knowledge of critical facilities and an understanding of electrical/generation and mechanical systems.
- Detailed knowledge of data center telecom cabling standards.
- Ability to quickly and accurately assess current operations, identify design flaws, and build consensus on both proposed solutions and action plans.
- Strong ability to refine ambiguous customer needs into specific, deliverable requirements.
- Ability to uncover hidden or unrealized customer requirements and gain prospect consensus.
- Ability to independently develop relationships and communicate with high‑level internal and external technical staff.
- Presentation Skills: Able to design and present highly technical concepts and solution specifics to internal and external audiences of varying technical capabilities in a clear, concise, and easily understood manner.
- Ability to influence cross‑functional departments to gain alignment and drive design solutions with the appropriate teams.
What Makes You a Good Fit (Qualifications):
- 3+ years of technical experience; experience with colocation/hosting/cloud companies, operations, or technical sales preferred.
- Effective solution‑selling capabilities, demonstrating advanced solution‑selling skills and proactive customer communication, including proposal development and delivery.
- Detailed knowledge of colocation technologies with strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Experience interpreting and responding to RFP/RFI/RFQ formats.
- Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex project documents for all audiences.
One or more of the following certifications are highly preferred:
- CDCP / CDFOS / CNCDP or equivalent knowledge/experience
- CCNA/CCNP Cloud or equivalent knowledge/experience
- AWS / Google / Microsoft cloud certification or equivalent knowledge/experience
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to combine technical elements with commercial needs and client requirements.
- Understanding of the impact of digital infrastructure technologies on business challenges, processes, and efficiency.
- Confident in technical knowledge; articulate and comfortable driving conversations or presentations.
- Ability to manage high levels of activity.
- Ability to work both independently and with cross‑functional teams to consistently achieve results.
