Tax Accountant

And we’re looking for a Tax Accountant to start immediately!
Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
1. Tax Data Collection: Collect financial data for tax reporting (sales, purchases, payroll taxes).
2. Return Preparation: Assist in preparing monthly/quarterly VAT returns, withholding tax reports, and other routine filings.
3. Tax Payments: Calculate tax liabilities and prepare payments to tax authorities on schedule.
4. Recordkeeping: Maintain organized tax files (invoices, remittance forms, certificates) to support filings and future audits.
5. Assistance: Provide support during tax audits by preparing schedules and addressing auditor requests under direction.
6. Tax Compliance: Prepare and file corporate income tax (annual CIT, quarterly income tax declarations), VAT returns, and withholding tax forms. Ensure all deadlines are met and payments are accurate.
7. Tax Computation: Calculate taxable income, apply deductions and incentives, and compute final tax liabilities.
8. Regulatory Updates: Monitor changes in tax laws and update processes accordingly; apply new regulations to company filings.
9. Tax Audits: Lead responses to tax audits by government (BIR), providing requested documents and negotiating with tax officers to resolve issues
10. Tax Planning: Analyze financial data to identify tax optimization strategies (e.g. maximizing allowable deductions, incentives). Provide recommendations to minimize tax burden
11. Strategic Tax Planning: Develop long-term tax strategies (e.g. structuring transactions, capital investments) to optimize tax position and cash flow.
12. Policy & Governance: Establish and enforce tax policies and internal controls. Ensure consistency across business units, especially in multinational settings.
13. Transfer Pricing (if applicable): Oversee transfer pricing documentation and policies to comply with regulations and avoid double taxation.
14. Tax Team Leadership: Lead a tax team or outsource relationship; review tax work, conduct training, and manage workloads.
15. Cross-Functional Advisor: Advise finance and operational teams on tax implications of business decisions (contracts, mergers, expansions).
Qualifications:
• At least 1 year proven experience as a Staff Accountant with international clients
• Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy, Finance, or a related field (CPA license preferred; required for senior roles).
• Certified Management Accountant (CMA) or Chartered Accountant (CA) considered an advantage.
• Someone with knowledge of US Taxation is preferred
• Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal
• Solid understanding of financial/accounting terminologies and practices
• With a good background in Quickbooks, Asana, and Excel
• Tech savvy & familiar with current technologies, like desktop sharing, cloud services, and VoIP
• Experience with word-processing software and spreadsheets (e.g., MS Office)
• Knowledge of online calendars and scheduling (e.g., Google Calendar)
• Proactive attitude
• Able to work on a graveyard shift
