Our client is a growing U.S.-based CPA firm that partners closely with small and mid-sized businesses.
This role is primarily focused on transaction entry and account reconciliation in QuickBooks. While data entry makes up a significant portion of the work, this position is not suitable for someone without an accounting or bookkeeping foundation.
The ideal candidate understands how transactions flow through QuickBooks, how balance sheet and income statement account's function, and is able to independently investigate discrepancies before escalating questions. We are looking for someone who learns quickly, thinks critically about their work, and continually improves efficiency and accuracy over time.
PLEASE NOTE
- Working Hours: Mon – Fri, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM EST (4:00 PM – 01:00 AM South African Time). These working hours are subject to change depending on daylight savings and/or the operational requirements of the company.
- Work Environment: This is a fully remote working role.
- You will be required to work on both South African and US public holidays (compensation for SA public holidays in accordance with the BCEA).
- Internet Requirements: A fixed fibre line with a minimum speed of 25 Mbps (upload & download) and the ability to support a wired Ethernet connection is mandatory. Applicants without a fixed fibre line cannot be considered.
- Power Backup: A reliable power backup solution is required to manage load shedding and power outages. Applicants without a power backup cannot be considered.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately enter and review transactions in QuickBooks
- Reconcile bank, credit card, and other balance sheet accounts on a regular basis
- Understand how balance sheet and income statement accounts are impacted by transactions
- Identify when account balances appear incorrect, unusual, or unreasonable
- Investigate discrepancies by determining where differences originated and why
- Research long-standing or uncleared transactions and determine appropriate next steps
- Identify issues such as duplicate, missing, or misposted transactions
- Use QuickBooks reports, registers, audit trails, and prior periods to research posting questions
- Propose and implement practical, time-efficient solutions to resolve discrepancies
- Communicate findings, questions, and resolutions clearly with team members
