OpenFn is an open-source platform (and Digital Public Good) that automates data exchange and repetitive tasks to help NGOs and governments work more efficiently, improve service delivery, and scale promising health & humanitarian interventions. OpenFn is used to automate a wide range of mission-critical workflows for social impact organizations–from securely sharing patient records between healthcare providers during a crisis, to automatically tracking whether health facility refrigerators are cold enough to store vaccines and predict maintenance/repair requests to minimize vaccine wastage.
Our team, Open Function Group, is the creator and primary steward of this open source software. We are a global team of IT and data integration specialists that provide open source software, training, and technical support to help partners in 40+ countries automate workflows that streamline and scale their operations and amplify their impact. .
We’re a fully-remote, lean team that uses cutting edge technologies to drive efficiency where it matters most; we do not make marginal improvements to already comfortable lives.
We are seeking an experienced Tech Consultant to join our small team as a lead consultant on key implementations with government ministries and large NGOs for an initial 2-month contract, with a strong intention to extend based on project pipeline and performance.
You should have consulting and tech implementation experience (ideally in digital health!), and a desire to apply your skillset to solving hard problems for health and humanitarian programs.
Day-to-day, you will be tasked with understanding new business processes, technologies, and ambiguous datasets to help design data integration and workflow automation solutions that enable smarter, connected digital systems and better program outcomes. You will play a critical role in ensuring customer success across our project portfolio via excellent project delivery, team leadership, and close collaboration with stakeholders at partner organizations.
In addition to leading requirements gathering for tech solution design, you will need to apply a Project Manager mindset—managing multiple workstreams, guiding team members, and ensuring projects remain on track, within scope, and aligned with stakeholder expectations.
In a given project, you may be communicating with 10+ different people working across multiple time zones. Clear, efficient communication and strong organizational skills are critical in our remote, fast-paced work environment.
Heath Systems Integration Consulting & Design: Consult with technical and non-technical teams of NGO and government partners to understand their business processes and identify opportunities for automation. Then, design and help deliver workflow automation solutions using the OpenFn digital public good.
Project Leadership: Manage smaller projects from requirement gathering to delivery. You will monitor scope, timelines and deliverables, and coordinate communications.
Training: Potential travel to visit government partners on-site to provide training on the OpenFn integration solutions delivered, as well as to participate in requirements gather workshops.
Your day-to-day will revolve around remote consultations, discovery calls, and workshops, with plenty of solution design and technical implementation in between. You will also coach team members and partner implementers on solution design and integration implementation best practices.
This is a fairly technical role, and candidates should be comfortable consulting with a diverse range of technical and non-technical stakeholders.
