About SafeLease
SafeLease builds and sells insurance products for commercial property owners. Our reinsurance and asset management businesses insure over 4,000 properties, 500,000 tenants, and have over $1B of AUM. Our team of technologists, agents, and underwriters simplifies complex risks to intelligently allocate capital and deliver policies quickly and affordably.
We focus on insurance products for the self-storage industry but are rapidly expanding our suite of services to other industries. We believe traditional commercial insurance can be distributed faster and cheaper. To do that, we’ve brought the entire insurance value chain—distribution, underwriting, and reinsurance—under one roof to drive innovation in an industry that’s ripe for change.
We are seeking an Actuarial Analyst to support the development, pricing, and ongoing performance management of our insurance products. This role partners closely with underwriting, product, and finance teams to analyze risk, evaluate product profitability, and support data-driven decisions across the insurance lifecycle.
The ideal candidate has a strong analytical foundation, an interest in insurance products and markets, and the ability to translate complex actuarial insights into clear business recommendations.
Support pricing and rating analyses for insurance products, including new product development and rate revisions
Analyze loss experience, trends, and profitability by product, coverage, and segment
Assist in the development and maintenance of pricing models, assumptions, and methodologies
Evaluate underwriting guidelines and risk selection strategies using actuarial and statistical techniques
Monitor product performance and identify emerging risks or opportunities
Prepare exhibits, reports, and presentations for internal stakeholders and leadership
Collaborate with underwriting, claims, finance, and product teams to support strategic initiatives
Support regulatory filings and documentation related to rates and product changes, as applicable
Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related quantitative field
1–3 years of actuarial or analytical experience in insurance (entry-level candidates with strong internships considered)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
One to three actuarial exams passed, including at least one CAS exam (preferably Exam P or Exam FM)
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including building and maintaining analytical models, tools, and pricing templates
Ability to communicate actuarial analyses clearly in written and verbal formats
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
Prior actuarial pricing experience, including internships or full-time actuarial roles
Experience supporting rate filings, including preparation of exhibits, documentation, or regulatory responses
Experience working with P&C or specialty insurance products
Exposure to pricing, product development, or underwriting analytics
Familiarity with insurance data structures and loss development concepts
Proficiency in Excel; experience with SQL, R, Python, or similar tools is a plus
