It is the greater of the two swords a traditional samurai would carry as a badge of office - the tool that defines the class, depicting a life-long training and a study in discipline. In the making of this tool, the Japanese craftsman, or shokunin, studies its owner carefully. This focus and discipline of the shokunin is our aspiration and inspiration. To untrained eyes, the daito is just a long, sharp piece of steel. It is actually a section of a circle, the radius of which is mapped to the arm of the owner to make drawing it much faster. It is in the mastery of the details of how this sword is forged that separates failure and success for its owner. Details matter. And they drive everything we do at Daito Design.
