First Street is a registered 501(c)(3) public charity that applies all its energies, in a non-partisan manner, to helping America develop a sense of urgency to understand, and take action to deal with the immediate challenges posed by sea level rise. As sea levels rise, our coastal communities are experiencing more intense flooding more often. The 125 million Americans living in coastal areas are already seeing flooding in the streets, in their homes, and in their communities. That's 4 out of every 10 Americans. We're already experiencing the destructive effects of rising sea levels and flooding, which is why we need to act now. First Street Foundation is here to promote solutions to sea level rise and protect our coastal communities. We work to connect with anyone whose homes, businesses, finances, health and communities are being or will be affected by sea level rise. Even those who are situated well away from the shoreline, sitting on higher ground, can face adversity as a result of higher sea levels and the resulting flooding from tides and storms. This is an issue that affects everyone. We exist to unite and amplify the voices of people in our local communities that are being affected.
