ABOUT THE ROLE
Accredited Labs is the fastest-growing calibration and metrology platform in North America, with 32+ branches and a sustained acquisition pace. As we scale, our biggest opportunity is operational: creating a unified operating system for the network. The Director of Continuous Improvement will lead the development of that operating system. The role exists to identify operational practices that matter, translate field-proven best practices into a repeatable operating playbook and deploy those practices in partnership with local leadership.
REPORTING STRUCTURE
Reports to the Chief Operating Officer and will work in close partnership with operational leadership and all Accredited Labs functions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Own the research, design, and deployment of Accredited Labs’ unified operating system - translating best practices from top-performing branches into standardized, scalable standards that work across 32+ locations without sacrificing local market autonomy.
- Conduct deep-dive analysis across the branch network to identify key drivers of branch performance and synthesize findings into key levers from lead to invoice.
- Design and refine the daily, weekly and monthly operating rhythm for branch managers
- Partner with operations leaders to drive organizational change and cultural transformation to embed continuous improvement as a core operating principle
- Define success metrics for each operational domain and establish a monitoring framework to track adoption, adherence, and impact across the network.
- Create a comprehensive training program and coaching methodologies to create a broad base of continuous improvement.
- Partner with the VP of Integration to support onboarding of acquisitions into the Accredited Labs Operating System.
THE PERSON WE’RE LOOKING FOR HAS
- Spent their career solving hard problems in distributed, messy operating environments - places where standardization doesn’t come naturally and local autonomy matters as much as consistency.
- Scaled operating systems across geographically dispersed teams
- Balanced competing objectives of supporting local autonomy and flexibility with the imperative to develop enterprise operating standards
- Earn credibility and authority through the quality of their thinking and development of a deep understanding of the business.
- Demonstrated a highly analytical and data driven approach to operational improvement
- Shown pragmatism and an ability to prioritize opportunities that move the business forward
- Experience working hand in hand with front line leadership
WHAT SUCCESS IN YEAR ONE LOOKS LIKE
- Operating playbook developed with the most critical standards for lab operations clearly defined
- Management rhythms, KPIs and scorecards for branch managers published
- End-to-end transformation proven out at three to five branches with documented results
- Playbook and training curriculum built
- Rollout underway across the network, with adoption metrics showing measurable traction and performance improvements at select branches
- End-state processes defined at sufficient detail to support ongoing technology development efforts and new acquisition onboarding
- Demonstrated EBITDA or operational KPI lift attributable to playbook adoption in early-rollout branches.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum eight years of progressive operations, process improvement, or organizational systems experience - ideally designing and deploying standardized operating systems within multi-location, service-based businesses.
- Demonstrated track record of quantifiable impact through organization-wide transformation initiatives
- Strong analytical foundation - comfortable working in operational data, building hypotheses, and pressure-testing them in the field.
- Experience in calibration services, metrology, or distributed service operations is a significant plus.
- Consulting background (McKinsey, Bain, BCG, or equivalent) or demonstrated experience applying top down prioritization and structured problem-solving.
- Willingness to travel regularly to branch locations - this is a field-driven role, and time on the ground is non-negotiable.
WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS
Accredited Labs is at the inflection point where operational consistency becomes the single biggest driver of enterprise value. The person who builds and stewards our operating system will shape how every branch - current and future - runs for the next decade. This is not a back-office process role. It is a foundational leadership seat in the next chapter of the business.
