Reporting to the VP of Engineering, you will be leading a team that drives the platform’s Relationship Intelligence engine, which is the core engine that enables Affinity’s users to unlock the power of their network. This is a high-scale and complex domain that handles ingestion and processing of billions of interactions, and distills them to actionable insights and visualizations that drive dealmaking for users. You will help define the technical roadmap and implementation for the future of our product and guide the team to build scalable features and functionality end-to-end. This is a hands-on role; in addition to leading the team, you'll also be an active contributor.

What you’ll be doing:

• Through cross-team collaboration with Product Management and Design, define the roadmap that makes up the Relationship Intelligence engine and features.
• Lead, coach, mentor and inspire a team that owns applications that are critical to the success of our customers and our business.
• Own the delivery of a delightful, reliable platform and user experience to our users around the world through rapid cycles of development and iteration.
• Lead Agile processes like daily standups, sprint plannings, demos and retrospectives.
• Champion AI tools and best practices, keeping current with the rapidly changing landscape, in order to enable high degrees of team efficiency and output, and create a learning environment for team members to continuously develop skills.
• Be an active contributor. You’ll have the time to build meaningful features alongside your team.
• Drive complex technical, architecture, design, and product discussions.
• Identify and fill gaps on the team, and create the processes necessary for the team’s success.
• Scale the team by hiring additional talented engineers to provide the necessary velocity to meet the team’s goals.

Required:

• You have 8+ years of experience working in a full-stack software engineering role, building scalable web applications with large volumes of data and rich visualizations.
• You have 3+ years in an engineering management role or technical leadership role, providing mentorship and coaching in a formal setting.
• You have experience leading high-performing engineering teams.
• You have experience working with complex SaaS platforms.
• You have excellent communication skills.
• You take pride in delivering an exceptionally high-quality product in terms of the functionality you provide to consumers, as well as the platform’s overall performance and reliability.
• You are passionate about helping engineers at all levels develop new skills and advance their careers.
• You're excited to work collaboratively within engineering and across functional teams.
• You’re eager to contribute your ideas and experiences to help Affinity continuously improve as a product and company.

Nice to have:

• Experience working with Ruby, React, TypeScript or Postgres.
• Experience working with CRM-type applications and high scale data model design
• Experience building data-intensive applications.

Tech stack

Our platform is built with React and TypeScript on the front end, and with Ruby and Postgres on the back end. Our infrastructure is hosted by AWS and runs on Kubernetes.

Please note that the role compensation details below reflect the base salary only and do not include any equity, or benefits. This represents the salary range that Affinity believes, in good faith, at the time of this posting, that it will pay for the posted job.

A reasonable estimate of the current range is $176,000 to $220,000 CAD. Within the range, individual pay depends on various factors including geographical location and review of experience, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant.
