Role Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Senior Accountant to join our Corporate Accounting team. In this role, you will play a critical part in our financial ecosystem, ensuring the integrity of our general ledger and driving a timely monthly close. This is a high-impact position designed for a professional with 3–5 years of experience.
We’re open to east coast USA, Canada, or those willing to work EST hours if located elsewhere.
Exceptional Leadership:
As an Andelan, you’ll serve as a role model for the rest of the company. Think about the feedback your peers typically give you – if it usually sounds like the below, we want to hear from you.
Low ego, low drama, servant leader: You share credit, take blame. You like being wrong because it means someone else had an even better idea.
One team mentality: You break silos across teams. You put the company and mission first above your team alone.
Great listener, hungry for feedback: You’re always seeking to improve – our product, our business, yourself. You solicit diverse opinions and deeply listen.
Owner, not renter: You see a problem, you fix it or find someone who will. The buck stops with you.
Player-coach: You fly high (create strategy) AND low (know the details that matter). You roll up your sleeves and get scrappy. You do this without micromanaging, empowering your team while actively engaging in important details.
Business problem solver. You’re not just a functional expert; you consistently get praise for approaching your function through the lens of solving business problems.
Key Responsibilities
Month-End Close: Assist in preparing and posting monthly, quarterly, and year-end journal entries specific to the cost side (COGS and Opex) of the business. Ensure all deadlines are met with accuracy.
Complex Reconciliations: Perform high-level reconciliations for bank accounts, intercompany balances, and accruals, identifying and resolving discrepancies proactively.
Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of consolidated financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
Process Improvement: Identify inefficiencies in current accounting workflows and implement automated or streamlined solutions to reduce "time to close."
Audit Support: Support external audit processes by preparing schedules and providing documentation for revenue-related accounts.
Accounts Payable Management: Assist with initiating wires and running weekly payable reports. Ensure payments are matched to bills appropriately within NetSuite.
T&E and Corporate Credit Cards: Manage the reconciliation and policy enforcement of corporate card programs. Ensure employee reimbursements are processed accurately and that spend is categorized for tax and reporting purposes.
Qualifications
Experience: 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience (Public accounting or a mix of Public/Private preferred).
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA or candidate for CPA is highly preferred.
Technical Proficiency: Advanced Excel skills. Experience with Netsuite and Salesforce is a plus.
Soft Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with all levels in the company. Organized, detail-oriented, able to prioritize tasks, and possess a strong work ethic. Self-starter and team player mentality.
Analytical Mindset: A "detective" approach to problem-solving—you don't just find an error; you find the root cause.
