As the Manager, Retail Operations and Initiatives - APAC, you will be responsible for enablement of our Arc’teryx retail stores in the APAC region, through cross-functional project management. You will be responsible for the Retail Operations Calendar, ensuring all HQ Initiatives, projects, tasks, and activities are planned, communicated, and executed with quality to our stores. You will lead the New Store Opening planning and operations of stores in our APAC fleet. Working collaboratively and cross-functionally, you will partner on all aspects of the planning and opening process, including store design, support operations, employee, and guest experience.

This role is primarily based out of Tokyo and is open to hybrid remote work. Candidates must be eligible to work in Japan, with travel to our stores throughout APAC.
Meet Your Future Team
You will work as part of the APAC Retail team and will work closely with cross-functional partners on the Operational Solutions team in Vancouver. Your team is an extension of our channel teams, and are responsible for creating and managing global scalable strategies to attain our business goals. The team is the conduit between the stores and the cross-functional partners, aligning, projects, strategies, and driving results.
If you were the Manager, Retail Operations, Initiatives - APAC, here are some of the core activities you would be doing
- Collaborating with Director, Retail - APAC, Store Development, Retail Country leaders, and key stakeholders to create and execute a short and long-term strategy for our retail stores
- Leading retail operations for all APAC NSO’s - providing coaching/feedback to local Operations and Retail teams
- Partnering with the global Asset Protection team for executing and driving the broader regional and global Asset Protection strategic initiatives within your market.
- Collaborating with retail and cross functional partners to drive risk and loss reduction activities and programs.
- Prioritizing all initiatives, tasks, events and architecting a global retail operating calendar, supporting all initiatives launching to the stores led by other teams
- Creating an APAC and local scalable strategy to attain our business goals, implementing those strategies to our stores
- Leading the development and management of comprehensive project plans
- Coordinating with cross-functional teams, clearly defining their roles and deadlines to ensure project success
- Providing support and guidance to store teams pre-open, at-open and for the first six months after opening
- Providing updates to leadership and the wider business on new store project statuses
- Identifying and quickly escalating potential risks and roadblocks to leadership
- Working closely with the retail channel to ensure stores are supported in all areas
- Leading and supporting the development and execution of programs to enhance the guest experience and drive sales and profitability
- Consolidating store feedback into concise actionable deliverables that drive cross-functional priorities, and then projects
Here are some of the things you could be working on in the future
- Implementing Global Retail Programs (i.e.Store Supplies, Facilities, Minor Works, Back of House Programs)
- Leading the launch and delivery for Retail Strategic Initiatives that might include – a Workforce Planning Management tool, Task Management/Store Communication tool, Power BI reporting, and POS/RFID projects
- Partnering with cross-functional partners to develop strategies that enable product and omni programs, inclusive of fixtures, product flow, back of house capacity, front of house capacity
- Leading cross-functional meetings and maintain shared documents, files, resources in an organized and easy to access system
- Creating a global retail operations calendar, becoming air traffic control for our stores
- Sequencing global projects, day to day tasks, continuous training, holiday programs and implementations to ensuring projects comes to life in our stores at the right time
- Creating a go-to-market strategy, ensuring brand campaigns, product campaigns, visual merchandise strategies, product training drives guest experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, Information Technology, or a related field
- 5 years of progressive vertical multi-unit retail experience, the majority of which included leading retail teams
- Experience in management consulting, with the ability to pull multiple teams together to lead global projects
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with stakeholders at all levels, build strong relationships, and ensure alignment across teams
- Exceptional leadership capabilities with demonstrated experience building high-performing teams
- Expertise in retail operations, including identifying opportunities and translating them into business performance
- Extensive knowledge of store-level guest experience and operational processes, including recruiting, scheduling, training, inventory management, and visual merchandising
- Capability to find simple, scalable solutions for complex problems and develop others to do the same
- Proficiency in managing a portfolio of projects and leading change through others
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build, maintain, and influence relationships at all levels
- Excellent communication skills, including executive-level communications
- Commitment to excellence, continuous improvement, and personal development
- Proactive approach to identifying root causes of issues and developing solutions
- High degree of flexibility and adaptability when faced with ambiguity
- Strong computer skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required
- Passion for the work, matched by a passion for getting outside and living it
