Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior/Staff Circuit Power Designer to play a critical role in the electronic design and development of advanced AI accelerators boards, such as cards and board computer, with a focus on ARM and x86-based architectures.
This role requires a visionary leader with deep technical expertise to drive innovation, provide strategic technical leadership, and mentor team members while executing hands-on design responsibilities. As a Senior/Staff Circuit Power Designer, you will contribute directly to defining and realising cutting-edge solutions that are central to our product portfolio.
Key responsibilities:
Power Schematic Design: Translate power architectures into detailed schematics, covering multi phase regulators, load line tuning, voltage margining, sequencing, and protection circuitry. Guide internal teams and external suppliers to ensure compliance with electrical, thermal, reliability, and regulatory requirements.
Advanced PDN & Board Level Power Design: Collaborate closely with Silicon, Layout, Mechanical, Thermal and Validation teams to optimize high current PDNs for AI processors and accelerators (sub-1V core rails, memory rails, accelerator power islands). Balance SI/PI integrity, transient response, thermal dissipation, EMI, and manufacturability across LPDDR4+, PCIe 3.0+ and accelerator interconnect.
Component Selection for Power Systems: Select and qualify critical power components - such as multi phase controllers, FETs, inductors, digital power modules, power tree monitor ICs- balancing efficiency, cost, EMI performance, and supply chain constraints. Work directly with component vendors, EMS partner, and Sourcing to secure optimal solutions.
Power Verification & Laboratory Testing: Lead PI simulations for power rails, including AC/DC impedance profiling, transient load analysis, stability assessment, and power efficiency characterization. Oversee full lab validation, root cause analysis of PDN issues, and implementation of corrective actions. Contribute to the development of lab methodologies, instrumentation, and measurement best practices for advanced PI characterization.
Power Bring Up & Prototyping: Lead the development of power system prototypes and proof of concept boards through EMS partners, validating architectural choices and ensuring reliable bring up.
Technical Leadership in Power Design: Mentor engineers in advanced power delivery techniques, and coordinate activities across Hardware, Silicon, Thermal, Software, and Product teams to ensure cohesive power system integration.
Documentation: Produce clear and comprehensive power specifications, test plans, design guidelines, and validation reports. Present technical findings and architectural trade-offs to internal stakeholders, customers, and cross functional teams.
Innovation in Power Delivery Technologies: Monitor advancements in GPU/AI power management architectures, digital control techniques, high efficiency topologies, and next generation PDN methodologies. Drive the evaluation, testing, and adoption of cutting edge approaches that enhance system performance, scalability, and differentiation.
Qualifications:
Education: MSc in Electrical Engineering (PhD a plus).
Experience: 10+ years in power-system design for high-performance computing platform, with leadership in GPU, AI accelerator, or ARM/x86 board development. Proven track record of delivering complex, high-power products from architecture through production.
Technical Skills:
Expertise in High‑Power PDN & Multi‑Phase Regulator Design: proficient in designing low‑voltage, high‑current power‑delivery networks for ASICs, GPU/AI accelerator boards, including rail partitioning, load‑line control, transient optimization, and advanced power‑stage tuning.
Simulation & SI/PI Analysis: strong background in PI and PI-aware modeling including AC/DC impedance extraction, fast‑transient analysis, and stability evaluation.
Experience with industry-standard tools such as HyperLynx, ADS, and Sigrity is a strong plus.
Thermal‑Aware Power‑System Design: Skilled in thermal modeling and co‑optimization of power stages, heatsinking, copper balancing, and component placement for high‑density GPU/AI accelerator boards.
DFT/DFM for Power Systems & Lab Characterization: Hands‑on experience validating power systems using oscilloscopes, high‑bandwidth probes, VNAs/TDRs, and power analyzers. Proficient in root‑cause debugging of high‑current rails and scripting‑based automation of power tests.
Compliance & Reliability: Deep understanding of EMI/EMC practices, switching‑noise mitigation, safety standards, and qualification methods required for high‑power GPU/AI accelerators boards.
Problem Solving: Skilled in debugging complex issues including DOE, data sriven analysis for root-cause identification.
Leadership & Communication: Highly organized, independent, strong team leader and mentor with excellent communication across technical and non-technical groups.
Adaptability: Able to manage multiple projects, meet tight deadlines, and collaborate across globally distributed teams.
Languages: Fluent spoken and written English.
