Join Our Team as a Trade Compliance Attorney at Axiom

Location: Remote

We are seeking a Trade Compliance Attorney to provide support to a leading client with an urgent need for sophisticated U.S. customs counsel. In this role, you will independently manage complex customs matters, including advisory, investigations, enforcement, tariff, and trade-remedy work.

Responsibilities:

  • Providing comprehensive legal advice on U.S. customs matters, including IEEPA, duty refunds, Foreign-Trade Zones, UFLPA, USMCA, country-of-origin, First Sale, valuation, and classification issues.
  • Managing customs investigations, enforcement matters, prior disclosures, internal risk assessments, Post-Summary Corrections, protests, and matters before CBP and other relevant agencies.
  • Advising on tariff matters, including Section 232, and supporting tariff-related initiatives and ongoing customs matters.
  • Providing support on trade remedies and related matters, including AD/CVD and appeals, as well as AI export-control issues.
  • Collaborating with key stakeholders to identify customs risks and provide practical, strategic legal guidance.

Qualifications:

  • Substantial, hands-on experience practicing U.S. customs law and independently managing complex customs matters.
  • Candidates should have a substantive customs-law practice rather than experience focused primarily on operational customs compliance, export controls, or general trade compliance.
  • Strong experience with customs investigations and enforcement, valuation and country-of-origin issues, tariffs, protests, and related customs matters.
  • Experience advising on matters before U.S. Customs and Border Protection and other relevant agencies.
  • Juris Doctor degree or equivalent and licensed to practice law in an applicable jurisdiction.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with trade-remedy matters, including AD/CVD and related appeals or proceedings.
  • Experience across IEEPA, UFLPA, USMCA, Section 232, First Sale, Foreign-Trade Zones, prior disclosures, and Post-Summary Corrections.

Compensation:

The estimated total compensation for full-time Axiom attorney roles is $104,500-325,000 per year and for non-attorney roles is $71,250-309,750 per year. Compensation decisions are based on various factors, including, but not limited to, experience, skills, certifications, location, and business needs.
