As a Working Student in Test Farm & Test Bench Operations, you will support the setup, maintenance, and continuous improvement of automotive test environments. You will work alongside experienced engineers and gain hands-on experience with hardware, software, automation, and troubleshooting activities used in automotive validation projects.
In our Working Student program you will learn:
- How automotive test benches are designed, configured, and operated.
- How Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) and bench-based validation environments work.
- How to install, configure, and maintain test bench hardware and supporting infrastructure.
- How to diagnose and resolve hardware, software, communication, and connectivity issues on test benches.
- How to use automation and scripting to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual effort.
- How to monitor test bench health and perform preventive maintenance activities.
- How to configure and validate communication interfaces, network connections, and diagnostic tools.
- How to support engineers during testing activities and investigate bench-related failures.
- How to manage laboratory equipment, hardware assets, and technical documentation.
- How to analyze logs, measurements, and system behavior to identify root causes of issues.
Technology Stack:
- Python scripting and automation
- Windows operating systems
- Git and version control systems
- Ethernet, CAN, CAN FD, LIN and automotive communication protocols
- Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) systems
- Test bench infrastructure and laboratory equipment
- Electronic control units (ECUs)
- Network configuration and troubleshooting
- Debugging and diagnostic tools
- Measurement equipment (oscilloscopes, power supplies, multimeters, debuggers)
- Serial communication interfaces (COM/UART, USB)
Main Responsibilities:
- Support the creation, setup, and commissioning of new test benches.
- Perform maintenance and health checks on existing test environments.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, network, and communication-related issues.
- Develop and maintain Python scripts for automation and monitoring tasks.
- Validate hardware connectivity and device availability.
- Support configuration management and documentation updates.
- Assist in inventory management and hardware lifecycle activities.
- Collaborate with validation, software, and system engineering teams.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the Test Farm.
Basic Technical Knowledge:
- Programming fundamentals (preferably Python)
- Electronics and electrical engineering fundamentals
- Computer hardware and operating systems
- Networking fundamentals
- Embedded systems, microcontrollers, or automotive systems
- Debugging and problem-solving skills
Nice to Have:
- Experience with Python scripting
- Familiarity with Linux or Windows administration
- Knowledge of automotive communication protocols (CAN, Ethernet, LIN)
- Experience with test automation or laboratory environments
- Experience using electronic measurement equipment
- Familiarity with version control systems (Git)
