CreatorIQ is seeking a Senior Database Developer to design, develop, optimize, and maintain the database systems that power business-critical applications and services. You will work closely with Software Engineers and other technical teams to build scalable database solutions, improve SQL performance, evolve data models, and ensure reliable database operations across AWS environments. This is a high-impact, hands-on role focused on SQL development, database architecture, performance optimization, schema design, and production reliability. You’ll help ensure our applications can efficiently process and access large volumes of data while contributing to database development standards, automation, and long-term platform scalability.
Design and Develop Database Solutions
Design, develop, and maintain database objects including tables, views, stored procedures, functions, triggers, and indexes.
Build scalable data models that support high-volume transactional and analytical workloads.
Translate application and business requirements into efficient database designs.
Develop reusable database components and establish consistent SQL development patterns.
Design solutions for processing and managing structured and semi-structured data.
Review and improve existing database architecture as application and data requirements evolve.
Optimize SQL and Database Performance
Review, analyze, and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and database workloads.
Analyze execution plans and identify opportunities to improve query performance.
Design and maintain indexing, partitioning, and data access strategies for large datasets.
Identify database bottlenecks related to CPU, memory, I/O, locking, blocking, and concurrency.
Partner with Software Engineers to design efficient database access patterns.
Improve the performance and scalability of existing database functionality.
Establish and promote SQL performance-tuning best practices.
Manage Database Schema and Deployments
Design and implement database schema changes across development, staging, and production environments.
Create safe and repeatable database migration and deployment processes.
Support CI/CD pipelines for database objects and schema changes.
Review database changes for performance, compatibility, and operational risk before production deployment.
Maintain database source control and development standards.
Develop scripts and automation to simplify database deployments and maintenance.
Build Data Processing and Integration Solutions
Develop ETL/ELT processes and database-driven data workflows.
Build efficient processes for importing, transforming, validating, and synchronizing large datasets.
Develop integrations between relational databases, cloud services, and application platforms.
Improve data quality through validation, reconciliation, and automated data integrity checks.
Optimize bulk data processing and high-volume database operations.
Support Production Database Systems
Collaborate closely with Software Engineers to support data-intensive production applications.
Investigate and resolve database-related production incidents.
Troubleshoot query performance, blocking, deadlocks, data issues, and application/database interactions.
Participate in root cause analysis and implement long-term solutions to recurring database problems.
Develop monitoring and diagnostic tools that improve database reliability and observability.
Maintain technical documentation covering database architecture, development standards, and operational procedures.
Improve Database Engineering Through Automation and AI
Use AI-assisted development and performance analysis tools to improve SQL development and troubleshooting.
Automate repetitive database development, testing, deployment, and diagnostic workflows.
Identify optimization opportunities through automated analysis of execution plans and database workloads.
Explore intelligent approaches to query optimization, capacity planning, and anomaly detection.
Help establish modern database development practices that improve engineering productivity and platform reliability
5+ years of professional experience in Database Development, SQL Development,
Database Engineering, or a related role.
Advanced SQL skills with strong experience developing and optimizing complex queries and stored procedures.
Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server, including T-SQL development and performance tuning.
Strong understanding of relational database design, normalization, indexing, transactions, locking, and concurrency.
Experience analyzing query execution plans and troubleshooting database performance issues.
Experience designing schemas and data models for high-volume production applications.
Hands-on experience with AWS database technologies such as SQL Server, Aurora, Redshift, DynamoDB, or related services.
Experience developing ETL/ELT processes and working with large datasets.
Experience with database version control, schema migrations, and CI/CD deployment processes.
Programming or automation experience using Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar scripting languages.
Understanding of database security, backup, recovery, high availability, and disaster recovery concepts.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in production environments.
Ability to work effectively with Software Engineers and translate application requirements into scalable database solutions.
Experience with advanced SQL Server performance and diagnostics is a plus, including SQL Server internals, Query Store, Extended Events, and troubleshooting locking, blocking, deadlocks, memory pressure, and I/O bottlenecks.
Cloud and data engineering experience is a plus, including AWS database architecture and migrations, Airflow, AWS Glue, Step Functions, Lambda, data warehouses/data lakes, Spark, EMR, or Kinesis.
Good to have automation and platform engineering experience, including Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automated database testing and deployment, observability, and modern DevOps/DataOps practices.
Upper-Intermediate or higher English proficiency, both written and verbal..
