Senior ADABAS Mainframe Systems Programmer

Position Summary

The successful candidate will perform mainframe database Software upgrades coupled with administration and tuning to support our customers’ Software AG ADABAS environments. The individual will need to work with vendor personnel to achieve timely solutions of database problems. The individual will be responsible for day-to-day database maintenance such as database definition changes, backups and restores, monitoring space growth, database reorganizations, creating and maintaining disaster recovery procedures and overall support of customer needs and requests. The successful candidate will be called upon to perform a variety of tasks including database optimization, database performance reviews and tuning, and new client onboarding. The individual will provide 24x7 on call support as part of a scheduled rotation with other team members. The individual will maintain documentation for all the tasks completed on a regular basis and adhere the change management policy.

Position reports to Senior Manager - Mainframe Database.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required and/or equivalent work experience.

• 10+ years of professional experience in Software AG ADABAS/Natural and related products for administration and systems programming support.

• Extensive experience with the following:

oBest practices of Software management, maintenance, and documentation

oConfigure and manage Software AG ADABAS and related products such as Natural

oSME in the topics of:

üADABAS database administration, NATURAL Security, Fast Path

üDatabase Design

üDefining FDT and DDMs.

üPerformance tuning

üUse of ADABAS utilities such as Delta Save Facility, ADABAS Utilities Natural utilities, SMA, Program Migration tool, Review, etc

üKnowledge of log archive and change accumulation utilities

üKnowledge of ADARUN Parameters and Buffer pools.

üKnowledge of Protection logging and Command Logging.

oEstablishing policies and procedures pertaining to database management, disaster recovery, product and database security, maintenance, and utilization

oReviewing new versions of Software AG ADABAS and related products for functionality, advising how they benefit the client

oManage vendors relations and quickly resolve problems and questions

oApplying Licenses for SAG products and applying ZAPs and Service packs for Software AG products

oCooperation with the Disaster Recovery Services, successfully execute tasks associated with any given customer’s disaster recovery plans.

oSupport planned (disaster recovery) and unplanned (emergency) database recovery activities

oTroubleshooting and solving production database issues

oIdentification and resolution of performance issues

oDatabase administration including administering and customizing ADABAS/Natural

oDatabase design and experience with batch and online Software AG ADABAS/Natural

oDatabase monitoring including space monitoring and performance monitoring

oMaintenance and usage of Software AG ADABAS and related products and utilities

oSoftwareAG products administration

oApplying license keys to SAG products

oSAG products license management at DR site & bringing up ADABAS & Natural at DR site

oInstallation & upgrade of ADABAS

oInstallation & upgrade of Natural

oTRIM product upgrade & maintenance

oEntireX maintenance

• Experience in a large, 24x7 multi-database environments and the ability to manage competing priorities

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay scale for this role is $80,000 to $148,000 annually based on a full-time schedule. Please note that placement in the range may vary based on numerous factors including but not limited to skills, experience, internal equity, and business needs. In addition to base salary, other compensation programs, depending on eligibility, include an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, and an equity grant under our Associate Equity Appreciation Program.
