At Everbridge, our mission is to help protect people and communities during their most critical moments. As a global leader in critical communications, public warning, and enterprise safety solutions, we enable governments, emergency services, and organizations worldwide to deliver trusted, life-saving communications at scale.
We are looking for an experienced Senior Platform Engineer to help transform how our Public Warning solutions are built, deployed, upgraded, and operated across both on-premises and cloud environments.
This is a highly visible and impactful role where you will drive automation, improve platform reliability, enhance operational efficiency, and help accelerate our transition toward cloud-native delivery models. You'll work on systems that support mission-critical communications, where resilience, security, scalability, and availability are non-negotiable. This is a fully remote position based in Norway.
What you'll do:
- Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines and internal delivery tooling that support product development and customer deployments.
- Develop reusable Jenkins and GitLab CI/CD templates, automation frameworks, and engineering standards.
- Drive automation across deployments, upgrades, configuration management, operational workflows, and technical documentation.
- Build and support Kubernetes-based platforms operating in both cloud and on-premises environments.
- Improve the scalability, reliability, and maintainability of delivery processes and operational platforms.
- Manage and optimize infrastructure hosted within AWS and OVH environments.
- Utilize technologies such as Ansible, Terraform, Helm, Python, and scripting to eliminate manual effort and improve operational efficiency.
- Enhance observability through monitoring, logging, alerting, and operational readiness initiatives.
- Support platform components including Grafana, Zabbix, OpenTelemetry, HAProxy, MariaDB, Kafka, and OpenShift.
- Create and maintain installation guides, operational runbooks, deployment documentation, and engineering standards.
- Partner with customer-facing teams to understand deployment challenges and continuously improve the delivery experience.
- Participate in troubleshooting and escalation activities when required. (There is currently no formal on-call rotation associated with this role.)
- Leverage modern AI-enabled engineering tools and practices to improve productivity, quality, and operational effectiveness.
What you'll bring:
- Fluency in Norwegian and English
- Proven experience designing, operating, and improving software delivery platforms and automation frameworks.
- Strong experience with Kubernetes, containerized applications, and modern deployment practices.
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or similar technologies.
- Experience with infrastructure automation and configuration management tools such as Ansible, Terraform, and Helm.
- Strong Linux administration and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS and hybrid infrastructure environments.
- Strong understanding of system reliability, scalability, security, and operational best practices.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
- A continuous improvement mindset and a passion for automation and operational excellence.
You do not need experience across every technology listed above. We value strong engineering fundamentals, practical problem-solving skills, ownership, adaptability, and willingness to learn and continuously improve.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in several of the following areas is highly desirable:
- GitLab Runners and CI/CD platform administration
- Kubernetes, OpenShift, and container orchestration
- Infrastructure as Code and platform automation
- Python, Shell scripting, and automation development
- Certificate management and secure system configuration
- Monitoring and observability platforms including Grafana, Zabbix, and OpenTelemetry
- Load balancing and traffic management technologies such as HAProxy
- AWS infrastructure and cloud-native services
- Kafka and event-driven architectures
- MariaDB and related database technologies
- Telecommunications, public safety, critical communications, or highly regulated environments
Why This Role Is Exciting
- Make a real-world impact – Support critical communication platforms used by governments and emergency services to help protect millions of people.
- Drive modernization initiatives – Play a key role in evolving legacy and on-premises deployments toward modern, cloud-native architectures.
- Own and influence the platform – Help shape the tools, processes, and automation frameworks that power product delivery across the organization.
- Work with modern technologies – Kubernetes, GitLab, Terraform, Ansible, AWS, OpenShift, Kafka, observability platforms, and AI-assisted engineering tools.
- Collaborate across disciplines – Partner closely with Engineering, Infrastructure, Professional Services, and Product teams to improve the end-to-end customer delivery experience.
- Continuous learning and innovation – Explore emerging technologies and contribute to engineering best practices that improve scalability, reliability, and productivity.
