FamilyWell is the first AI-enabled behavioral health start-up to implement a perinatal collaborative care model that embeds a wrap-around mental health program directly into OB/GYN practices. Our mission is to solve the maternal and women's mental health crisis by increasing access to equitable, affordable, and accessible mental health care across the full spectrum of reproductive health.
Our specialized care team consists of social workers, coaches, therapists, and psychiatric providers integrated into OB/GYN clinical workflows (virtually), becoming the behavioral health arm of women's health practices nationwide.
Our tech-enabled platform seamlessly embeds coaching, therapy, and psychiatric services directly into clinical workflows, making high-quality mental health care accessible, affordable, and insurance-covered. With 95% of patients experiencing clinical improvement within four months, we're addressing one of healthcare's most underserved areas while creating a financially sustainable model for our provider partners.

Role Overview

Job Type: W2 Employee with Benefits (30–40 hours/week)
Salary Range: $85-90,000 with up to 15K incentive bonus
Reports To: Medical Director
We are seeking a clinically excellent and mission-driven Senior Clinical Therapist to serve as the primary clinical resource and advocate for FamilyWell's therapy consultant team. This role is predominantly clinical in nature (~80%), focused on delivering high-quality direct patient care across both perinatal and perimenopausal populations. The remaining ~20% is dedicated to providing clinical guidance and peer support to therapy consultants, and contributing clinical expertise to key organizational decisions and projects.

Time Allocation & Workload
- 40 hours per week
- 80% Clinical Care (~26 patient-facing hours + patient admin)
- 20% Non-clinical / administrative / team leadership responsibilities

Patient Care & Support
- Maintain a clinical caseload of 20-26 patients pending company and team needs
- Clinical Responsibilities Include:
- Provide individual tele-therapy to perinatal and perimenopausal patients using FamilyWell's virtual platform, carrying a full clinical caseload as the primary focus of this role.
- Conduct one-on-one psychological intakes for referred FamilyWell program patients, gathering comprehensive assessments to inform treatment planning.
- Document patient progress comprehensively, sharing treatment recommendations with medical providers, psychiatric consultants, and other treating professionals as needed.
- Facilitate treatment plan modifications for patients needing more intensive or specialized mental health care, ensuring timely and appropriate interventions.
- Develop and deliver Care Plans post-session, offering patients actionable insights and follow-up steps.
- Apply evidence-based clinical approaches specific to perinatal mental health (PPD, PPA, birth trauma) and perimenopausal conditions (mood dysregulation, anxiety, depression, sleep disturbances, and identity and life transition).
- Create and complete relapse prevention self-management plans for patients nearing discharge, ensuring a structured approach to maintaining mental health gains.
Clinical Support & Team Advocacy
- Serve as the primary clinical resource and first point of contact for therapy consultants with clinical questions, complex cases, or ethical dilemmas.
- Advocate for the therapy consultant team — surface their needs, concerns, and clinical feedback to leadership and ensure their voices are represented.
- Facilitate peer-to-peer reflection, team office hours and case consultation to promote shared learning and clinical quality across the team.
- Escalate concerns around well-being, help identify early signs of burnout or compassion fatigue and support FamilyWell’s Provider Experience efforts.
- Participate in evening on-call hours pool (5-9pm EST weekdays) for any team safety escalations
Enterprise Projects and Growth
- Contribute clinical expertise to key organizational decisions, including care model design, clinical protocols, and patient experience improvements.
- Provide clinical input on projects that require therapy-specific knowledge, such as new program development, clinical quality initiatives, and OB/GYN partnership integration.
- Collaborate with clinical and operational leadership on policies and practices that affect the therapy team and patient care standards.
- Aid in therapist recruitment processes as a key interviewer and decision maker as we grow the team
Qualifications
Licensure
- Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) or equivalent (LMFT, LPC, Psychologist), holding an active license in the state of Massachusetts. Multi-state licensure is a plus.
- FamilyWell will initiate additional licensure in our partner states
Experience
- Formal perinatal mental health training or a minimum of 5 years of clinical experience working with pregnant and/or postpartum patients.
- Clinical experience with perimenopausal populations, including familiarity with hormonal health, midlife transitions, and associated mental health conditions.
- Demonstrated ability to serve as a clinical peer resource, mentor, or informal support for other therapists.
Preferred Certification
- Perinatal Mental Health Certification (PMH-C) from Postpartum Support International is recommended but not required.
- Training or certification in menopause-informed care (e.g., through The Menopause Society or equivalent) is a strong differentiator.
