About Funga
Funga is a public benefit corporation harnessing forest fungal networks to address the climate crisis. We combine modern DNA sequencing and machine learning technology with breakthrough research on the forest microbiome to put the right native, biodiverse communities of mycorrhizal fungi in the right place. This leads to more quality wood created more quickly, more carbon sequestered, and more resilient forests. We serve land partners seeking to implement regenerative forestry practices that improve productivity and sustainability, and corporate carbon buyers building high-quality carbon removal portfolios with strong social and biodiversity outcomes. We’re a team of passionate scientists and builders on a mission to draw down at least three gigatons of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere by 2050.
If you are excited by starting new things, learning as you go, and being hands-on in applying your work to the private sector, you will dig working with us. We encourage you to apply even if only some of the below criteria are met—just make sure to tell us why you’re excited about Funga!
About the Role
We are hiring a Land Program Coordinator to manage the operational and communications "bridge" between our land enrollment efforts and executed partnerships. While our Enrollment Specialists focus on the initial handshake, you will be responsible for the critical phase that follows: guiding landowners through the complexities of our Carbon, Field Trial, and Soil Sampling agreements.
This role requires a unique blend of administrative rigor and high-touch communication. You will spend a significant portion of your time engaging directly with landowners via email and phone—answering questions about contract terms, keeping land partners interested and engaged, and ensuring all parties stay aligned through to execution. You are the organized, friendly, and persistent voice that ensures our forest projects move from "handshake" to "active."
In This Role, You Will:
- Drive Contract Execution: Actively manage the "back-and-forth" communication with landowners to move agreements from draft to fully executed status.
- Landowner Support: Serve as the primary point of contact for administrative and contract-related inquiries, providing clear and professional guidance to partners during the onboarding process.
- Agreement Lifecycle Management: Draft, distribute, and track term sheets, carbon leases, trial and soil sampling agreements, and other, landowner contracts, ensuring all terms align with Funga’s standards.
- Coordinate Onboarding Logistics: Work closely with the Growth team to ensure landowners have provided all necessary documentation (e.g., proof of ownership, tax forms) required for project commencement.
- Maintain Data Integrity: Update and manage our CRM and contract databases (e.g. HubSpot, DocuSign) to provide real-time visibility into the enrollment pipeline.
- Operational Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve friction points in the landowner experience to make the contracting process as seamless and fast as possible.
- Cross-functional Coordination: Work with Funga's Operations team and external counsel to troubleshoot issues that fall outside of our standard agreements, ensuring proactive resolution.
- Cross-Functional Support: Provide administrative and logistical support to the Growth and Field teams to ensure smooth operations during peak planting and sampling seasons.
Our Ideal Candidate Will Have
- 3+ years of experience in a role that combines administrative operations with high-volume external communication (e.g., Paralegal, Closing Coordinator, Project Admin, or Sales Operations).
- Exceptional Communication Skills: Ability to translate complex contract language into layman’s terms for landowners while maintaining a professional and helpful tone.
- Persistent Follow-Through: You enjoy the "chase" of closing out pending tasks and have a knack for professional persistence when following up on unsigned documents.
- Technical Savvy: Proficiency with contract generation and management platforms (DocuSign/PandaDocs) and CRM tools (HubSpot). Direct experience with property titles, deeds, or timber deeds is a significant plus.
- Organizational Excellence: You can manage dozens of simultaneous "work-in-progress" contracts without letting any details slip through the cracks.
- Mission Alignment: Passionate about forestry, climate change, or regenerative land management.
- NOTE—please apply if you feel you are qualified, but don’t necessarily meet all of the above criteria!
