Summary of Role
The Channel Director – Social is the senior leader responsible for paid social excellence across platforms including Meta, TikTok, Pinterest, Snap, LinkedIn, and emerging social channels. This role owns the quality, performance, and evolution of social activation while leading and developing a high-performing team of Social Managers and Coordinators.
This is a player–coach leadership role requiring deep hands-on expertise across social platforms, creative-driven optimization, and audience strategy, combined with strong people leadership, operational rigor, and future-facing thinking. The Channel Director ensures enterprise social standards are executed with excellence while translating platform changes, automation, and emerging social capabilities into scalable activation strategies.
The Channel Director – Social is client-facing for complex engagements and serves as a trusted authority for social planning, performance, creative strategy, and innovation discussions.
What You’ll Do
Social Leadership & Execution
- Own paid social activation quality, performance, and consistency across platforms and buying models
- Lead hands-on execution for select high-profile or complex programs to maintain platform credibility
- Ensure social activation aligns to approved media plans, communication strategies, and audience frameworks
- Serve as the escalation point for complex platform issues, creative performance challenges, and audits
Team Leadership & Capability Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop Social Managers and Coordinators
- Set and reinforce standards for activation, optimization, QA, and governance
- Coach managers on strategic judgment, platform fluency, and client communication
- Build bench strength and readiness across the Social discipline
Innovation, Automation & Industry Leadership
- Guide adoption of creative testing frameworks, automation, and emerging social formats
- Develop POVs on platform evolution, creator ecosystems, social commerce, and signal loss
- Partner with enterprise channel leadership to define guardrails and best practices
- Drive structured testing and scaling of new features, partners, and platform betas
Client & Cross-Functional Partnership
- Participate in senior-level client conversations, QBRs, and complex planning initiatives
- Translate social performance, creative insights, and platform innovation into clear recommendations
- Partner with Strategy, Analytics, and CX teams to ensure alignment and learning
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, advertising, business administration, or a related field is preferred
- 10+ years of experience in paid social or performance media, with demonstrated leadership responsibility
- Deep expertise across major social platforms and buying models
- Proven experience leading and developing high-performing teams
- Strong strategic and analytical skills with the ability to translate data into scalable standards
- Extensive client-facing experience in complex planning and performance discussions
- In-depth knowledge of industry trends, creative best practices, and emerging social technologies
