About the role

You own two things that keep the organisation running: our people systems — HRIS, reporting, data quality and integrations — and our payroll coordination across group entities, spanning Austria, Germany, Spain, Italy, the UK and Türkiye. The split is roughly 50/50 between systems and payroll.

Payroll runs through Deel in all countries, in partnership with our internal accounting teams in each market. You prepare inputs, validate outputs, own the payroll calendar and are the single point of accountability for ensuring payroll is accurate and delivered on time.

On the systems side, you are the group-wide owner of Deel as our HRIS and of our people data.

You report directly to the Head of People Operations and work closely with HR Operations Managers in each market and with Finance.

What you'll do

People Systems (~40%)

• Own and administer Deel as our group HRIS: configuration, workflows, access and data quality.
• Build and maintain people reporting, including headcount, attrition and organisational data.
• Manage integrations between Deel and other tools and own employee data flows end to end.
• Drive the people systems roadmap: evaluate tools, lead implementations and migrations, and automate manual processes.
• Act as an internal consultant to HR Operations Managers on process design and system usage.

Payroll (~40%)

• Own the monthly payroll cycle for all group entities.
• Collect and validate payroll inputs, including compensation changes, absences, bonuses, new joiners and leavers.
• Process payroll through Deel and review outputs before approval.
• Work hand in hand with internal accounting teams in each country.
• Own the payroll calendar and ensure statutory deadlines are met in every jurisdiction.
• Reconcile payroll with Finance and support audits and year-end processes.
• Continuously improve payroll processes, controls and documentation, reducing error rates and manual effort.

People Operations Support (~10%)

Depending on your work location, occasional support may be required by the wider People Operations team. As the team works across multiple countries, there may be situations in which an extra helping hand or physical presence is needed.

What you bring

Must have

• 2–4 years of experience across payroll and HR systems. Ideally, you have run or coordinated payroll hands-on, rather than only administering a payroll tool.
• Experience running multi-country payroll through a global payroll platform. Deel experience is a strong advantage.
• Strong HRIS administration experience, including reporting and workflow configuration, ideally using Deel.
• High accuracy and strong process discipline: you catch errors before payroll runs, not afterwards.
• Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills, with confidence in data cleaning and reconciliation.
• Fluent English, as this is our working language.
• Ability to work autonomously across different time zones and group entities.

Nice to have

• Payroll certification, such as the Personalverrechnerprüfung in Austria or an equivalent qualification in Spain or Germany.
• Spanish, German or Italian language skills.
• Experience with HRIS or payroll system implementations or migrations.
• Experience working in a multi-entity or M&A environment.
