Grindr Llc·about 20 hours ago

⏰ Full-time🎯 Lead / Principal💰 $190,000 – $254,000🇺🇸 Palo Alto, USA📅 Oct 13, 2026

About the Team:

Grindr is an AI-native platform powering how millions of gay people connect globally. With 15M+ monthly users, 130B+ annual messages, and a team of fewer than 200, we move fast, stay lean, and tackle technical problems at a scale few companies ever see.

With our user base growing by 30% last year, we are rapidly expanding into new verticals. This role sits within Grindr’s Health division and owns the end-to-end stack behind products that help our community access health information, resources, and services. As a Staff Full Stack engineer, you'll set the technical direction for how we architect, ship, and scale these experiences, working across the front-end and back-end with equal fluency. You’ll take ownership of our existing platforms like woodwork.com and build the user-facing experiences for our next generation of health-focused investments, while contributing to the backend services that power them.

At Grindr, we operate in Grindr Mode. Moderately hardcore day to day, truly hardcore when it counts. It’s about doing great work without burning out. Outcomes over outputs. Smart, driven people who raise your bar, with room to live full lives.

This is a hybrid role based in our Palo Alto office and will require you to be in person Tuesdays and Thursdays.

About the Job:

  • You’ll be joining as one of the first full-time engineers in the healthcare vertical

  • Own the design and development of Grindr's health web experiences, from UI architecture through to the APIs they depend on

  • Work closely with Product Managers, Designers, and other Engineers to turn designs into polished, accessible, high-performing product features

  • Build and maintain frontend applications using Typescript, Next.js, React

  • Contribute to Kotlin backend services and integrations using tools like Redis, Postgres, and Kafka on AWS services

  • Innovate by guiding data-driven decisions to adopt new technologies, architectures, and workflow

  • Own frontend performance, reliability, and quality, and play a key role in optimizations and incident management

  • Help guide and mentor team members through pairing sessions, code reviews, and architecture reviews

Role Requirements:

  • 7+ years of experience as a Software Engineer, with a strong focus on building user-facing web applications

  • Deep experience with Typescript, Next.js, React and modern frontend tooling

  • Experience building scalable frontend architecture, including state management, component design, and performance optimization

  • Working experience with backend systems (service APIs, data processing, messaging services) in a microservice-based architecture

  • Experience building on cloud services, AWS preferred

  • Passionate about testing software and systems

  • You love figuring things out and understanding how they work end-to-end

  • Experience shipping production Node and JVM (Java, Kotlin, Scala) applications

You May Thrive in this Role if You:

  • Have built and operated consumer-facing web products at scale, where performance and reliability are non-negotiable

  • Care equally about the system you're building and the experience it delivers — modern web design fundamentals and UX instincts inform how you write code

  • Have experience working on distributed teams across time zones and borders

  • Are data-driven by nature - you use data to make decisions regularly

  • Thrive in a face-paced, startup-like environment

  • Excel at working on multiple initiatives at once

  • Find comfort in ambiguity

Benefits and Perks:

  • Health, Dental & Vision Full premium coverage for you. Partial coverage for dependents.

  • Family Formation Up to $300,000 in fertility and family-building support, covering IVF, surrogacy, egg freezing, and adoption.

  • Retirement: 401(k) with 6% match and immediate vesting.

  • Compensation: Industry-competitive compensation, company bonus, and equity for every employee.

  • Gender-Affirming Care : Industry-leading gender-affirming offerings with up to 90% cost coverage, access to Included Health, monthly stipends for HRT, and more.

  • Time Off & Rest Flexible vacation policy. Two company-wide rest weeks per year.

  • Other Benefits: Monthly stipends for cell phone, internet, wellness, food, and commuting, breakfast/lunch
