Accountabilities:
The Accident Benefits Claims Advisor will be responsible for managing assigned claims from investigation through resolution, ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements while delivering a high standard of customer service. Key responsibilities include:
- Reviewing insurance policy wording, determining coverage eligibility, and establishing appropriate reserves for assigned accident benefits claims.
- Investigating, negotiating, and settling claims of varying complexity through phone, written communication, and other appropriate channels.
- Managing claim files thoroughly by gathering information, documenting activities, and maintaining accurate records.
- Evaluating customer needs, setting service expectations, and taking ownership of claim-related issues through effective resolution.
- Communicating professionally with claimants, vendors, healthcare professionals, legal representatives, and other stakeholders.
- Handling settlements within assigned authority levels and escalating complex cases when required.
- Applying best practices while ensuring compliance with legislative, regulatory, and internal requirements.
- Collaborating with claims teams and internal partners to support efficient claim handling and positive customer experiences.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate brings insurance expertise, strong communication abilities, and the capacity to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Required qualifications and skills include:
- Bilingual proficiency in French and English, both written and verbal.
- Post-secondary education or equivalent professional experience preferred.
- Active pursuit of a Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation or willingness to obtain one.
- Valid New Brunswick Adjuster’s Licence or ability to obtain one within six months.
- Previous insurance experience, particularly with injury claims, medical rehabilitation concepts, or medical terminology, is an asset.
- Experience with accident benefits claims is considered an advantage.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage a complex caseload independently.
- Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a customer-focused mindset.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
